Best place to take a 2 year Old on a Day Out. Yorkshire

Found 9th Feb 2014
Was wondering any ideas on places to take a little 2 year old boy?

I'm thinking something fun, possibly 'educational' (I know he's only 2), and something that would basically be a nice day out.

I remember going to Eureka when I was younger but I think that's too mature for him to take in? Was thinking about wildlife centres such as The Deep in Hull/Scarbourough. He can look at some nice fish and crabs and stuff.

Any other ideas?

My son would love the penguins

Yorkshire is a big place-it really depends where else you want to go? Tropical World in Leeds is a great day out and not too expensive, you could then have a nice lunch somewhere in Chapel Allerton or go for a walk in Roundhay Park

Thanks for this. This is awesome as it's right on my doorstep:) Never really thought about going but it does look like fun for the kids. One thing is it doesn't give prices for e-tickets for kids under 3. Does that mean he gets to go for free? I guess I'll ring them.

Thanks for this. I really thinking of going to the Deep with the Little one as he loves animals. He'll wobble walk in town and when he see's a dog he's in awe! Thanks for this.

The railway museum surely all little boys love trains.

Yes kids under a certain age are free but like you say best to ring to make sure.

Thanks for this. Awesome stuff as it's free entry:) I went there when I was a kid and it's a good place to go. Maybe for a 2 year old not many activities but I'm sure he would enjoy it non the less.

Thanks for this. It looks like a real fun day out for a kid and educational too. I can't seem to find the cost of this though. Do you know if this is FREE entry or is there a cost to enter?

The deep is in Hull, which is no where near scarborough...

Sorry. It's called Sea Life centre in Scarborough. I believe they are owned by the same company. The Deep is said to house a lot more wildlife and is more enjoyable from what I have read.

The website says adults are £3.40 and under 5s are free. Note: Tropical World reopens 17th Feb after their refurbishments have been done.

Went to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster ... wasn't great and think it's over priced .. not worth it. the animals barely moved such as the polar bear. Lions were cool but still not great.

Went tropical world in Leeds and that is really good value for money at only £3 a ticket for adults and children go free! It's indoors too and so nice. Not great if you are pushing a pushchair as it gets in the way so if you go keep that in the car if your little one walks. Overall I nice day and the parks surrounding this venue are amazing too! A great area for a picnic afterwards.

Going to try the Deep soon or even the rail museum for the lil ones in York.
