Just checked fairfx and they are $1.46 (yesterday it was $1.4775)
Have been watching it for ages, but everytime I think it will make $1.50, it goes down again!

That's a good rate ! I was at the post office this afternoon, their quoting $1.36
You have to have a card, so do they charge you for using the card ? I remember seeing one a few years ago that had a great rate but you were charged every time you used it (about $2 a time I think).
You used this one ??

Wow, that sounds like a really bad job.

You must not get paid very much.

We used fairfx in Florida in Dec with no problems. It's a pre-pay card so you load it (when the rate is good) and use it till it runs out. You can add to it anytime, but it's probably best to have two cards, which is what we did, just in case you lose one! You can also check how much you are spending if you have internet access, as the site updates your expenditure quite quickly.
There is a link though the Matalan website which gives the card for free, but if you are planning to put more than £500 on, then the card is free on the fairfx website
I think someone posted today that Matalan are also offering a free credit of £5 if you add £100

We're off to Vegas in 3 weeks and waiting to see if the rate goes up after the Easter holidays and financial year end closures......

Post Office rate was quite low but the card is free and you don't pay to use, only if you withdraw cash from it....

But look at the Fairfx deal posted today, free £5 plus a better rate

Just thought I should mention the fairfx card is sent by post once you have loaded your card, so if you were thinking of getting one allow time for delivery!
I would hate for you to put all your cash on a card, and then it not arrive in time for your honeymoon!!
Congrats! and have fun!

Could be a good idea, I've never use one of these things before, but anything that gets you a better rate ahs to be a good idea.
On the $2 per atm transaction, anyone know what the max withdrawal is on a US atm ?

i wish the rate would go up but i doubt we're gonna see the 1.96's common in recent years. The american economy i think is more likely to pick up before ours and it'll take a couple yrs i expect.

No 1 currency has the best rate in the UK for where you can walk in and get US dollars over the counter (see no1currency.com/bur…ge/)

hi folks spoke to thomas cook today who's rate at moment is just under $1.42 and there offering 1 % cashback on all transations.... going there friday to pick up my tickets so will have a look... do you think its worth waiting till after easter?

Could be, its the budget next week. That will either give things a boost or drop us further down the toilet ! Hard to say which . . .
