Best roller?

Best roller when painting large walls? I HATE it when they create a dimpling effect. Also how do you avoid getting the dimpling effect on ceilings too? I have many cracks in my wall so whats the best product to use to fill them in?

If you are painting big ceilings and lage wall areas then I would suggest you splash out on a 12 inch set up will do job much quicker, I think the reason you get dimpling or orange peel affect after rolling is you are using a thick pile roller you only need medium pile for interior work.

As for filling you will only need 1kg bag but they are hard to find try b&q, but you might have to get 5kg bag as this size bag is stocked most places.

Thank you so much for this. Can this filler be used for cracks in skirting boards too?

Great advice

I can recommend these rollers too for a super smooth finish. Obviosuly takes longer as cant hold as much paint as a thick pile roller.

The filler will be ok for small holes but not if any further movement/flexing is likely - especially if you mean the top edge between the wall and the skirting.

Where any movement is possible fill the gap/hole first with expanding foam youtube.com/wat…lEM (this acts as an adhesive to secure the two parts together), when dry cut the excess away and use the filler on the remaining hole/gap. For any gaps along the top edge of a skirting board and wall fill with expanding foam then use a decorators caulk toolstation.com/sou…080 to finish.
Hamilton perfection sleeve.
Thin quantity paint so it leveles.
Dig out cracks then seal and fill but prime filler before you paint. No short cuts in decorating. Skilled job

If holes and cracks are only small then it will be fine if they are big then you may need to get a proper wood filler, if the cracks are along the top where skirting and wall meet then just put a bead of caulk along them.
