I currently have a Toshiba 42" 1080P LCD TV (with 3xHDMI inputs), a PS3, a sky + box and a Toshiba XDE500 DVD Player. What would be the best home cinema/surround sound system to get to accompany this for best sound output from all these devices?? What cables would I need? Any advice much appreciated! Heat & rep given for any assistance.

The sony all in one systems are popular on here, like this one:

Personally, I would recommend spending a bit more and buying a proper av receiver..

This was posted earlier. I have one and think the quality is great

No HDMI inputs, plus he already has a dvd player and a PS3.

It does have HDMI input and the SCART can also be used as an input. This also has optical. If you read the Amazon comments it discusses how to configure.

So if I were to connect all my devices to the TV using HDMI and then connect the TV optical audio out to the Sonys DAV260 optical in would this work too? Or would I lose quality?

No, your TV can only output Stereo PCM.

That's why I suggested the item in the link, or a full AV receiver. You could then connect all the devices to the unit, then have just one HDMI from the unit to the TV.

If you have three HDMI devices, you may need a splitter to connect them all at the same time.
