Best tablet sub-£500 w/ decent mic, camera and stylus support?

Due to the sale of my iPad I have around £500 or so to spend (give or take £50) and wanted to know really what the best tablet to go for is. Ideally I want stylus support with a combo of a decent mic and camera arrangement for video calling. Ideally it would be nice to also have a large amount of RAM and a decent SoC. And I'd love for it to be guaranteed updates.

I've been looking at the ASUS Zenpad 3S 10 due to it's pricing and spec but sadly the fact it's more than likely not going to get the Nougat update, put me off.

I've considered the Pixel C but considering it's around 14 to 15 months old or so and the spec, it seems too highly priced for what it is.

I've also considered an iPad Pro purely because I can guarantee the microphone quality and camera will be decent. Sadly, it seems just meh going back to one but I'd be able to guarantee updates for a while.

I looked at the S3 but I gasped at how high the price is too.

The Linx 10v64/12v64/12x64 are ones that I'm putting on the contenders list and ones i'm considering to buy. They seem ideal but I'm not sure on the mic and camera quality nor do i know really what sort of battery life this thing has.

Really, I'm... well stuck on what to buy. Do i wait for new tablets this year? What can everyone recommend?

The Galaxy tab s series is terrific on specs, but Idk how you'd feel about switching from apple to Samsung. The tab s3 should be coming out by the end of next month if not April, and i can't see it being over £500, i think it's at least worth looking in to.

I was considering the S2 as the S3 is confirmed now to be well over £500 (£599 in some retailers) which is a shocking price IMO.

The S3 would be my choice but I didn't really want to put anything more than £550 down on a tablet. The S2 attracts me but sadly seems a little obsolete to consider due to the S3 now replacing it.

I'm not really a fan of Sony Android devices and I've not really heard the best about them. The specs aren't too bad but I can't really find one for a great price, nor for sale in general.

    Either way, an appreciated consideration

Yeah I'm a vivid android user, but i wouldn't really go for Sony when buying top end as it doesn't feel like I'm getting the bang for my buck. The tab 3 may be a expensive but it does have the snapdragon 820 so i think it's justified, it even has fast charging capabilities which is always nice but yeah, doubt anyone needs a tablet as powerful as the s7 right now

That's a good shout. I noticed they've moved the majority to Intel Atom SoC for Android but I'm unsure how these perform compared to the QComm Snapdragon variants. Defo something I'm going to research more into as the protector is a niche feature and the acclaimed 18 hour battery life too.

Says it supports a stylus too but I'd have to look into this getting Nougat as I'd want something running the latest Android OS if possible or is confirmed to receive the update.

Kinda like Sony I don't view them as a high-end brand so I'd have to look closely into how their Android performs and the overall verdict.

I was really tempted to go for the Zenpad but when I read the possibility of no Nougat I had to disregard it.

    EDIT:

According to their upgrade matrix, it's not even on Marshmallow.

I've only ever had one phone that used an intel chipset - the orangey San Diego and for that era it was lightning fast, I don't think you'll have any issues with Intel, but either way I'm sure therea return policy if you don't like it. I don't research tablets much as i do with phones but I'd say it's one of the best if not the best in that price range

Indeed, I read good things about that back in the day. I'll give it a look. On further reading, Currys advertise it with Marshmallow but Nougat I think has a slim chance of reaching it.

I can only recommend either iPad Pro 9.7 or Galaxy Tab S2 10.
both within your budget and both top notch tablets. probabaly the best in class.I don't know why you would consider something else?if stylus is concerned, you cannot beat the iPad Pro's Pencil..quality and accuracy wise nothing comes close.
but I'm sure my comment will be attacked by Apple haters here.but really, who cares!

I was looking at potentially getting the iPad Pro but personally, I want to go back to Android.

The S2 seems to be my only option to go for in regards to something getting Nougat and being half-decent. I'll just have to put up with the Suckwiz UI or stick a launcher on there. The only thing putting me off is the half-metal/plastic construction. It would have been nice to have a fully aluminium body but hey ho.

Have you got the S2? How do you find it?

I don't have S2 but played with friends S2 quite a bit,I had various iPads (Air ,Mini 2,Mini 4) last one being Pro 9.7 which was awesome however I felt I can live without tablets in general ,no longer felt it was useful for me.
the S2 I absolutely loved the OLED screen and liked the SD card feature, also imo Samsung makes the best Android tablets, not really a match for iPad in terms of build quality, longevity and resale value but still the best if you really want android.
again for stylus I really can't see anything even close to iPad's.
Touchwiz is still a bit annoying but it is what it is.
