Go later on before closing, i work in marks and spencers and all day it wo mental but half a hour before closing it was pretty dead, you just have to run the risk of there not being anything left. But i am going to marks tonight to get my xmas goodies n that but not going to after 6

8-10pm saturday night, deserted apart from a few drunks

bout tree fiddy in the am.

I work nights, it has been dead from around midnight until 6-7am.
Madness any other time though!

Same here well the polish cleaners are busy and the tills are not manned but a good time to shop

There was a thread on mSE that stated what time most supermarkets reduced their stuff that was getting close to its sell by date. Tjat was quite useful.

Is it Passenger 57?

Dont go around 9pm as thats when night shift start so likely to lots of OOS and not always staff around to help because at xmas most night shift workers have to serve on tills until 12 ish and then its dinner time.

I used to work night shift in tesco and id say go after 5/6 am as lots of the fresh deliveries arrive around this time so even if OOS , night shift workers might be able to say " finish your shop and come back and i see if delivery in "

:)im going at just before 7am do the same every crimbo eve normally not to bad then

our local store is staying open for 24hours tonight when it usually shuts at 10, it is only a small store so i don't think anyone will use it through the night. bonkers really when you consider how much you actually need for the 2 days it is shut:)

and extra stores are opening boxing day this year so they only shut 1 day

I went to Tesco @ 8.30 today it was fine, but Sainsburys at about 11 was mad !

I didn't go to a supermarket during the day when there are less than 48 hours left until Christmas.

Nor did I ask the internet whether I should or not.

"Why not?" I hear you ask

Because I have what I like to call "common sense"

How'd it go magic? I was at Asda yesterday and I swear people where going into hiding for 3 months!

just back from asdas and was surprised that it wasn't mayhem. couldn't get carrots though and lifted a bag from an abandoned trolley. not technically stealing. we watched it for ages and there was no one at it:oops::oops: oh, and there were no desserts left:x

No. You're just back from Asda. Unless you went to more than one store.

:-Dlol well done you

I work at M&S and we opened at 7 & until about 9.00 we where quiet and by 9.15 it was manic until i whent home at 2 & there wasnt much stock left depsite both of our fridges being rammed this morning( i mean the store room fridges) my advice go early

Slipped into Morrisons this morning at 09:00 and not too bad, but within the following 30 minutes the place was full of mental people, clogging up aisles and over buying.

In times past we used to do the shopping between 5 & 6 AM at Tesco but as they are no longer that great and now having two young boys, dragging them around at stupid o'clock is not on, bad enough me being dragged around by the wife!!!!!!

I find it is usually best to go when it's open
