i am also looking to possibly open a webstore on it at some point to allow people to pay for enrolment to the club (social club) can this be done or do i need a special host or domain?

Depends if you want to to do it properly and get stuck into the code or not.

Dreamweaver... but you've already used it.
You don't need a special domain or host to do that, just make sure you get php and mysql databases. You can get an ssl certificate to make it secure from most hosts at an additional fee, or just use paypal.

Dreamweaver...vibe knows nothing

i will use dreamweaver then!! thank you for your help!

Dreamweaver is 2nd behind writing the code yourself, but that dose require alot of html knowledge. Any other software either produces really bad code and or browser compatibility issues.

For a store try open source php solutions that you modify to your requirements like cubecart, opencart, oscommerce and zencart

Dreamweaver is terrible in many cases - fills sites with pointless javascript etc. Good for colour coding, but then Notepad++ (or others) do that anyway. As for using dreamweaver to produce an ecommerce site... right ok, off you tot now Mr Potato

Dreamweaver - I used the full version when I was in year 9 to design my own website in ICT. If i could use it in year 9, and i made a pretty proffessional looking design, then I'm sure you could make a very very good one indeed.

Hope it all works out ok,

DW is for noobs learning web design :whistling:

It should never be used on a proper site as the code is bloated and a mess

dreamweaver won't help them ...... Best bet is to learn HTML & CSS @ www.w3schools.com/html & www.w3schools.com/css

Or as they want to have a shop, hire a pro as it can get messy and if they don't have any knowledge of scripting, they will be stuck

I have a copy of DW CS4 and i don't use it as it sucks :w00t:

Now now children

For eCommerce you need to look at something like CubeCart

Cubecart is bloated and doesn't have the tools other options do, like magento, prestashop, zen cart

Zen Cart would be my recommendation

To be fair that's just good practice and readability, that code will validate to the W3C spec. So it is "good code" as far as anyone viewing the site is concerned, just not so great from the point of view of someone coming along later to change things. Although, that said, the alt tags in there aren't particularly helpful from an accessibility point of view.

1. remove my personal details
2. it's clean code and conforms to the w3c standards
3. it's currently being rewritten with a new design

I do agree Megalomaniac, my alt tags aren't helpful at the moment but the new site will be better for accessibility

Sorry i did remove your email address for spamming reasons. I didn't think it would be a problem as this site is available in your profile.

Your css doesn't validate.

All I'm saying is that people have there own ideas as to what is best and if you do use dreamweaver then you can produce a very clean coded site so long as you understand html.
As said before dreamweaver is poor for javascript so that's why you'd switch back to code view.

My post was not meant to embarrass or belittle anyone, i was showing that someone may consider a site to be good code because it complies with xhtml standards but in fact there is even more improvement to be made.
