BEWARE of Glossy Bingo

There was a deal via Quidco of £20 cashback for new account and £10 deposit so gave it a go.

I deposited my £10 and played the games. TBH the website is pretty poor, very slow, and generally worthless bingo prizes. They also have a fairly complex arrangement of balances for cash, bingo and casino. Money seems to jump across them quite frequently when winning/spending.

Anyway, after about an or so I logged out and went to bed. There was money in all of the balances. A few days later when checking my online bank I noticed I had been double charged for the deposit. I'd been charged 2x £10 (plus 2x £2.50 cash advance fee).

I contacted glossy bingo and raised it with them.

They acknowledge they processed 2 payments a few seconds apart, they admit they didn't send an email for the second deposit.... but absolutely WILL NOT refund the money. I even asked if they could just refund the remaining £5.81 in the cash balance and they said no because I still had to wager another £120 to meet the play through limit before I can withdraw anything... even the money they stole!!!!

Absolutely disgusting customer service. I just wanted to make as many people as possible aware of this website. I'll raise it with Quidco and anywhere else I can.

I'll take any advice people can add too....

phone up your bank and report it as an unauthorised transaction ( ie theft )

That's terrible. Betting companies are the dodgiest around. They'll con you at the first chance they have. You'll have more chance getting money from leprechaun than a refund from a betting company. The only way is to take them to court and it's not worth it for a tenner and they know that.

Yes, I will contact my bank about it and raise it. Its not really about the £10, its the sheer cheek that they all but agree I didn't authorise the transaction and it was an error their side but still not entertaining the refund at all.

I just want to make anybody aware who might be tempted by quidco cashback.

Yes it is. If I was 100% sure I was right I would open a claim with MoneyClaim in a heartbeat. I would take great pleasure in inconveniencing them and seeing them have to pay my costs.

None of these online betting / gambling outfits appear to be monitored or controlled in any way, I would not go near any of them with a barge pole.

By the sounds of the description in the op i would guess that on joining and making your initial £10 deposit you have taken their bonus option instead of playing through just the £10 of your own cash- hence the play through limit.

You have seen the flashing lights and the draw of cashback without really thinking it through and reading the t&c's...........

The only thing they have done wrong is possibly double charging your account.

Looks like you took out one of their bonuses; always avoid this.
I did one and I had to spend 300x the original amount; luckily I won a nice amount of money and was able to continue gambling, winning and eventually withdrew a decent amount.

Yes, and refusing to refund it even after acknowledging they had done it.

I agree, I was ok with the play through just wanted a bit of fun. I was annoyed they pointed at the play through limit as a reason not to refund an error on their part.

I looked at the gambling commission website and one of things they listed that they don't do is settle disputes.
