Big Euromillions jackpot on Friday, 117 million.

Often wonder what I would do if I won that much money.

Would you go public and try to milk your 15 minutes or would you try to keep it secret? How would you keep it secret as i'm sure every journalist, scrounger and criminal scumbag would be looking for you? Would you give money to family as the more people in on the secret the more people who can blab?

Personally I think the rewards of that much money would out-way any risk, what do others think?

i would try to keep it as low key as poss. i would share the money only with certain family members and friends!

i agree with you about the rewards!

I have my ticket bought.

And i definately wouldn't go public. No point imo. I would tell my family and close friends.

The funny thing is that people who need it most would probably hide it worst - the low earners who suddenly quit their job and buy an Aston Martin would be easily spotted and easily conned out of their winnings, which is fair.

The person who can mask it best by marginally increasing their extravagance would be smart enough to invest it well.

Would you still be on here looking for a bargain?

Personally, I wouldn't tell friends or family and just live off the interest.

would share with my family would keep secret

It really surprises me when you see big jackpot winners clinking champagne glasses together with their partner in a newspaper as I think 'You may have an article for the scrapbook but you have just painted a big target on your head for the rest of your life'.

I would try & keep it a secret, only give money to certain family & friends.
I wouldn't splash out on extravagant items, as this would only raise suspicion. I would live off the interest for a couple of years then I would move away

Oh, forget to say that as it's far too much for me to spend, even the interest, I would look at charities and ask where the money would actually go. Probably the majority would be childrens charities, but I'd want assurances that the money I gave them would be ringfenced to pay the wages of x numbers of staff to really make a difference and not for any other reason.

I'd probably ring them with the correct ticket code (and a pseudonym) and tell them I want anonymity and won't be claiming for a week or so to let it all calm down.

Wouldn't want to use the home phone as it would be embarrassing trying to be all James Bond but all they needed to do was 1471. X)

I don't think I would tell anyone who wasn't close to me, would split it with my closest family members. Would go to New York (but would still look for a bargain on here ) would also go to Australia. Would donate some to charitys, but would probably want to be a big part of it so as above poster says I could see where it was going. Would also buy my Papa the biggest television that his livingroom would fit as he has had the same TV for around 20 years !!

If you left it for a week then you would have 5 days of 'it still hasn't been claimed' and Camelot would start releasing info of where it was bought.

Charity wise i'd probably give a few dozen smaller donations to local causes that may need the money, like hospices and children's wards. Not particularly because i'm any great philanthropist but just so I don't feel as guilty when I'm living it up like Caligula.

I think after you make contact and you have been confirmed as the winner it becomes 'we have been contacted by the ticket holder who has requested anonymity', at least that was what happened with the last winner (after as you say a few days of gradual information released). It didn't help that they then went and stayed in the penthouse at a top London hotel to take meetings with Camelot and Coutts the private bank.

See ya U.K hello America and batchelor pad in Monaco

The best option is just to leave it until the media is dominated by another story. You basically want a terrorist attack or something like the Japanese earthquake so the most people don't care.

Got my ticket.

If after Friday you see someone laughing maniacally, notice a 'sold' sign on the local defunct volcano or read an ad in the paper for 'henchmen wanted' it means I won.

No winner.

117 million this Friday. oO

117 in the bed and the little one said.. Roll Over.

If I won the whole lot, I'd donate to red nose day to double what they managed to raise!

would still leave an odd 30mill

117 million. Wow.

Got my ticket for next week (_;) If i win i wont find out till sunday as ill be in berlin.

I got 3 weeks , third time lucky

I would give to my family and very very close friends. I would put a set amount away for my 3 kids which they could not even touch or know about till at least 23.

Hubby works in the bank so he is really obsessed with investing savings. so would leave him to invest it so we just live off the interest.

Would go on massive holiday first and give up my part time Job, but I would do that under the pretences that I would be doing it to become full time mum again.

Not sure if I would trust a banker to invest it!!!!

bloody hell £117m is crazy amount too much money would rather prefer to have 10-15 winners still plenty

clever.

I have 2 strict rules with my work syndicate:
1) if we win massive (£500,000 or more) nobody will go public
2) we are in agreement not to resign all at the same time

I think in reference to quitting my job I would walk into my bosses office, stand on his desk, pull down my trousers, squat down and deposit a little treat on the centre of his desk. Then without saying a word I would pull back up my trousers and walk out for good.

Yay £117m. No point doing it for only £90m!

I would probably just not turn up tbh. Would be hard to motivate myself to stand in front of gob by teenagers teaching maths with that kind of money in the bank. Then jet off to somewhere hot and sunny to contemplate what to do with m life and the money.

I would try and carry on working , but this time without any pressure.

I suppose the key thing is you dont have to work. Simply being able to decide whether to work or not is the biggest luxury in itself. Perhaps doing charitable work, setting up an interesting and rewarding project would be the best thing to do

You sound like my tech teacher at highschool (quite a while ago) left and came in once every 6 months to remain at full pay and buggered back off to packistan with his family. This was for 5 years... lol. The poor kids without a teacher!

It's ok, I'll bung them all a few quid for some White lightening and weed to help them cope with the anguish of not having me teach them

If I won the lot then there would only be a handful of immediate family I would tell as I know they would keep their mouths shut.

You would have to find a way to explain the sudden influx of cash to everybody else. I would either wait a few weeks and then claim i'd won the five balls and the bonus ball on a standard draw or drop hints that i'm getting into doing up property and buy a few flats somewhere, loads of people claim they want to do this so it isn't that unusual.

Solid thinking! Just have to pray that nobody recognises you walking into the national lottery office or the media manage to take a photo!

With that much money, my fear is winning and organised crime finding out who won.... (sounds crazy.. but these things do happen).

It seems sad but I love thinking of these 'what ifs'.

Personally I would contact Camelot on a number not my own (can't be traced to me) and give them basic details (first name only maybe) to confirm I am the winner (code on the ticket should be enough) and request zero publicity. I'd tell them I didn't plan to claim for a week or so.

I don't know how the actual claim works, if you get an individual advisor and a representative from Coutts or if the whole Camelot office knows your name?
