    Bike (Bicycle) Question = ¬ D

I've got a GT Chucker 2.0 and my front tyre kept going down after about a day or two so I thought i'd obviously need a puncture repair kit so I repaired it and it still went down after a day or two so I then bought a brand new inner tube and the same thing happened AGAIN!

    What could it be?

    your wheel/tyre?

Too much weight on the saddle

Did you make sure you removed what had caused the puncture from the tyre/wheel?

Take the tube off, mark the tyre/tube with chalk so you know where it was and which way round it way, use a bowl/sink of water to locate the air leak and look for the source of the puncture. Likely either a thorn in the tyre wall, or slipped rim tape on the wheel.

maybe the new tube is bust too and you was just unlucky or someone is deflating it as a joke.

There's nothing in the tyre that I can see?

I was thinking of buying a new pair of tyres.......................£32.99 :w00t:

Have you worked out exactly where the puncture is on the tube and where it relates to on the tyre/wheel? Pointless buying new tyres if its a burr on the wheel, or simply a very small thorn, unless the tyres are already needing replacing...

And £33 is seriously expensive for tyres, they better have a decent whack of kevlar in!

The tyres for my bike are pretty expensive cause i've got wide tyres on there atm (2.35") and a pair of Maxxis Swampthing's 2.35" x 26" are £32.99 for a pair

Aren't they downhill tyres? There are probably better ones for dirtjumping if thats your bag...

Run your fingers along the inside of the tyre to feel for anything sharp.
Same with the wheel but obviously, around the outside of it.

    Sorry, just had 2 http://bicycle.co.nz/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/G/9/G9_CHUCKER20_BLKGRN.jpg

    Nice Bike

carefully run your hand on the inside of the tyre for any objects sticking through. check the rim tape covers all spoke nipples. check wheel rim is smooth and has no jagged edges. be careful when refitting tyre not to catch the tube between tyre and rim, also try to refrain from using metal tools to remove and refit tyre.

Any clues to the location, size & shape of the punctures?

On the outside it is usually glass, flint or thorn trapped in the tyre. On the inside it is because of faulty or badly fitted rim tape.

Puctures in the form of slits that occur in pairs are a "snake bite", caused because the rim is making contact with the tyre.
