    Bike/Cycle Advice

    Hi there,

I am currently in the market for a new bike for myself and my other half.

We will basically use bikes for general cycling i.e. cycle paths, leisurely jonts, etc; nothing too serious. Also, most of our cycling will avoid 'off-road'. As a result, i was thinking hybrid bikes perhaps, as think an all out 'road bike' would be too overkill.

For myself, i do plan to use bike to commute from time to time, also why thought hybrid over mountain bike.

I have been looking at the following for myself, however not very clued up on makes, quality, etc, etc, so looking for some advice please:

    Claud Butler Urban 200 - £214.99
    bikes-by-mail-order.co.uk/pro…412

I then came across this bike though:

    Raleigh Sprint 2010 Road/Race Bike - £25.99
    discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/pro…343

Ideally, looking to spend up to maximum £250 for myself, and despite latter being £259.99, wondered if it was good value? If not, are there any bikes in that kinda price range, hybrid, or maybe even road bikes, that would be great value?

For the O/H, looked at following:

Claud Butler Urban City Womens - £164.08
    bikes-by-mail-order.co.uk/pro…550

Viking Pinetrail Urban Ladies Bike 2010 - £149.99
    all-about-the-home.co.uk/vik…asp

    Viking Urban Trail 21-Speed - £149
    winstanleysbikes.co.uk/pro…010

    Viking Urban Trail 18 Ladies Bike 2010 - £172.50
    all-about-the-home.co.uk/vik…asp

Halcyon Skye Ladies Hybrid Bike - £199.99
    discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/pro…226

    Claud Butler Urban 100 Ladies - £199.99
    discovercycling.com/bik…894

Saracen Venturer 1 Lightweight Ladies Hybrid Bike - £199.99
    discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/pro…238

    Halcyon Albany Hybrid/Comfort Bike - £199.99
    discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/pro…597

Looking at around £200 mark max for O/H's bike, unless an excellent deal for bike not too much more!

Really appreciate anyone's advice, who takes time to look over some of what i've written, as understand it is quite alot.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ronald

P.s. If anyone has any other better bikes for the money, please also state! Thanks.

The Carrera Subway is the best bike for your budget....forget the RRP it's usually about £325 and is still great value at that price.

    + 1

I have a Carrera Vulcan V-spec and the front forks are terrible, far to soft with no lockout.

    Just bear in mind..
