Biscuit addiction

Found 23rd Sep 2017
I have a sweet tooth. It used to be sweets, then cream cakes, then iced cakes, then other cakes.....You get the idea. Luckily I don't put on weight easily, else I would be size of a house!

However, within the last two months, I have started on biscuits and this is lethal as it does not make you feel full so I can munch away too many biscuits.

I have tried to stop eating them but after a day without, I am getting withdrawal sumptoms and crave sweet things.

Help! I need to stop eating them otherwise I will end up getting diabetes

Suggestions guys please

I have tried this but after a day without biscuits I feel terrible and have to go and get some. Then I don't just buy one packet but two packets. This is the problem, I need to exert some control before it gets out of hand but I don't know how to stop doing it.
You can't eat when you don't buy. My diet mantra!

But I can't stop buying. I need to somehow go off biscuits so I won't crave them any more.

Yes, you CAN, you just lack willpower. You care enough to post on a forum so obviously it's there in the back of your mind that you need to cut down or stop. Give yourself a good talking to!

I would check to see if your blood sugar isn't dropping which is causing the issue.

I was hoping that by posting on here, it will have some sort of psychological effect on my brain that this is serious and I need to do something about it. I am going to try, but I already bought 4 packets of biscuits today!
Just buy the same kind of biscuits then you'll get sick of the sight of them after a while.

I have a very addictive nature. It works wonders in some respect but it also gets me into trouble when I get addicted to the wrong things. I doubt it is anything medical, just can't stop once I have cotton on to something I like until I get bored with it.
Switch to bars of dark chocolate for a couple of weeks. Dark chocolate does not taste nice so you probably won't eat a whole bar of it in one go. Add in some fruit as well and that might help to cure your cravings and wean you off chocolate and sugary snacks.

Biscuit addict here , wake up and have a brew and bowl of biscuits , absolutely love the lotus ones

I'd say at least you are addicted to biscuits rather than drugs or alcohol or gambling

If it wasn't for health worries, I would stuff myself silly with the same biscuits until I have had enough of it as that would then stop me craving any more biscuits.

Luckily for me, I don't like chocolates, otherwise I would be in trouble. I can't eat dark chocolates at all, as I find them disgusting. I eat a lot of fruit but this doesn't stop me eating the biscuits

Too much sugar intake causes diabetes, which is very bad. My parents and brother have diabetes from too much sugar intake.

I am not addicted to the three things you mention because of personal reasons, which has been fortunate for me in a sense as they are far worse as you say
Switch to plain rice cakes???

Think I best change my diet then, I'm healthy as I'm very active but I do eat a lot of sugar and only being 25 I definitely don't want to end up with diabetes so best start cutting back , think that's where it all starts , cut back slowly instead of just cutting it out completely, or find yourself a healthier alternative

I did not think that too much sugar intake can give youdiabetes but it definately can. You don't even have to eat too much sugars either to get diabetes so it is really bad. Sugars also damage your teeth long term and cause weight gain so you should try to moderate. This is my problem, I can't do anything in moderation so my only way is to stop completely
I get these multi grain crackers from Aldi and they are nice. Less sugar and fat than biscuits and also more fibre. They are quite moreish. I just eat them plain instead of a biscuit occasionally.

Go on, you know you want to!

I need to switch to something less harmful as that is the way to stop an addiction, get another. I used to eat cakes which also sound bad but in reality it is the lesser evil as it fills you up so you can't eat too much of it. There is limited room in my tummy for cakes

sugar doesnt cause diabetes!!!!! where did you hear that nonsense?
being fat is a risk factor for diabetes
having a family member with diabetes can be a risk factor,
high blood pressure (often due to being fat) is another risk factor.

now... since your family members have diabetes (simple deduction and 99% accurate based on above points and knowledge: type 2 diabetes = fat people, type 1 diabetes = skinny people) that means they are likely fat. It also means that you are either fat or close to because we as society live in an environment where size 16 is now normal simply due to the fact that we are used to it.
biscuits are just fat and sugar and some refined carbohydrates....
stop eating biscuits... then again if you can manage 2 packs of bix no regimen will help you

That isn't a bad idea. I like crackers and they don't have any sugar. I will try to replace the biscuits with crackers

I am very slim despite having a sweet tooth, but I am worried that the high sugar content will give me diabetes even if I am slim. People who are slim also get diabetes.

The biscuit deals on this site is not helping as I can't resist biscuits that are on sale. I have a few packets left and I am going to try my best to stop buying any more after I have eaten these, even if they come on sale.
Peanut butter on rye crackers are good and filling. If you like them
Get a friend or family member to give you mouldy out of date biscuits when you least expect it.... Boom, it will put you off them for life.

You could also seek out hypnotherapy, again job done.
Have you had a diabetes check? Maybe worth doing.

I identify with your struggle. If I eat properly, try to manage a healthy plate for each meal, I fare better when trying to resist unhealthy food. Have you tried meal planning?
Keep looking for the right way for you...sending you my support x

This is why I worry as I don't eat much in terms of proper meals. I eat fruit which is good, but then I snack on sugary products all day long. I have had blood tests done last year and there is nothing wrong at all with me.

Peanut butter is too salty for my taste. It is also fattening. I am going to get jacobs crackers and munch on that as I like that just on its own. That may make me think I am eating a biscuit.

I dont have a big tummy so there is limited room for food to go in there. Lol. Biscuits however doesn't seem to need any room and can fit in even when I am full, which is the problem as there is nothing to stop me continuing to eat the biscuits.

no people who are slim have type 1 diabetes (it is true for 99% of people).
Type1 DM - is where a pancreas is unable to produce insulin (it's unknown why but it is thought this is genetic or autoimmune condition)
Type 2 DM - is due to insulin resistance where pancreas doesnt produce enough insulin or insulin itself does not work properly (due to high blood pressure or high levels of fat surrounding organs/muscles in the body - fat is a metabolically inactive tissue)

so you might not have and not going to get diabetes but biscuits are full of saturated fats.... and we all know where that goes.

My advice:
you seem to find an excuse to any suggestion proposed by users, clearly we are getting nowhere. If you want help, either go to see a psychiatrist or a dietitian (not a nutritionist) specialising in eating disorders.
Have some will power and stop stuffing your face.
Fruit (although good for you) is full of sugar too. Eaten whole, it's not usually a problem, but made into smoothies can cause sugar related problems.

Low-fat ready meals are often full of sugar as they replace the fat with sugar. I know someone who is thin, with diabetes, which I firmly believe was caused/encouraged by these ready meals.

I believe pigs can fly.... doesnt make it true
I remember watching a Real Housewives of Orange County episode a few years ago and one woman on there but keptchup on a piece of cake to she wouldn't eat it. So everytime you buy the biscuits just think I'm going to take these home and squirt ketchup alover each biscuit I take out.that may help you to stop buying them if you think of this while your in the store. And if it doesn't once you get home do it and youwon't eat it with ketchup all over it

don't believe everything doctors or medical experts tell you. they can only state what is evidenced. large sugar intake will cause diabetes, obesity is a side product of large sugar intake. you can still develop diabetes from large sugar intake and stay slim as some people don't put on weight easily, like me.

this is already helping oddly enough. the thought of those biscuits with ketchup on them isn't appetising. when i am next at the shop and i see a packet of biscuits, i am going to think of ketchup on them. this will help me stop buying them. i agree with one of the poster above, that if i don't buy them, i won't eat them but my problem is my weakness when i am in the shop and i see the biscuits.
