Bit of ebay advice pls rep left

Here's the story, about a month ago I sold a pair of powerline lan adapters on ebay the guy received them working and left positive feedback.

About 9 days later I get an email saying one of them has broken and he wants a refund, I compromise and agree to send him a replacement if he sends me the broken adapter.

a week later no adapter has arrived even though the bloke says he has sent it, to be fair to him he had a legit tracking number & apparently they had missed me and sent it back. Anyway I figured it wasn't his fault and sent him an adapter anyway I get a message back all is well thanks blah blah blah.

Now two weeks after that I get another message off him saying the replacement worked fine for a fortnight and failed and he wants a full refund.

I've sold over twenty sets and have been using them myself for months without any problems? I could understand if they had arrived doa but the fact they were working and he has broke them is making me question whether to refund him or let it go to a dispute.

Does anybody know how i'd fair or have had a similar problem? any help would be v appreciated.

Sounds like a chancer to me, 2 breaking in the space of a couple of weeks? seems unlikely!

tell him you will refund upon receipt of all items. ebay will tell you to do this anyway

That's what I thought, the question is how would ebay see it if it went to a dispute?.

That would be a given but I don't know if I really want to refund the guy tbh, they arrived working?

Thing is, tis quite hard thing to prove & ebay/paypal seems to nearly always favour the buyer, even if they're in wrong!

I think you should say to the buyer that you've been more then fair in replacing one already & if he wants another, then he should be willing to meet you half way cost-wise! tell him, you didn't make them, you just sold them, your not at fault.

If he's not willing to pay at least 50% for one, it's clear he's just after a freebie, maybe for another room in the house!

He seems quite demanding, I doubt he would compromise tbh. your right about ebay/paypal always siding with the buyer, this sort of thing puts me off selling on ebay altogether.

he would have annoyed me tbh. i had someone list faults for an item i sold and complained they wanted a partial refund..i told her to return fo a full as i didnt want her unhappy with her puchase-she declined cos the faults had all disappeared lol

chancers-just ask him to return all. Then you can look at them and take from there?

Tell him your not a charity, you have costs to incur, if he isn't willing to meet you 50/50, then send everything back & you will refund him whatever he paid, better that then wasting your time via dispute!

well you don't have a choice TBH, he has the DSR's to fall back on and if its not fit for purpose then, as a business, you have to remedy the situation.

Just tell him to report it to ebay. They will tell him he must send them back for a refund. (this needs trackable method) only when you got them back and tested them offer a refund.

I think he wont bother myself.

If he is a chancer, as you suspect, then asking him to return the faulty goods will put him off and you will probably not hear from him again. If he is not trying to pull a fast one, and does infact have faulty items, then he will send them back to you, which you should therefore refund them anyway.

id tell him in a nice way to bog off as you have had no other problems with other buyers and seeing he as allready left feedback he cant ruin your feedback score, like some one else said put him on your blocked bidder list (i never thought you could open a case if you left positive feedback surely this would go in your favour if a case was opened as well as the fact you have sent replacements allready)
