Black Friday Ripoff Thread

Research by consumer group Which? has found nearly half of all products on sale last Black Friday were available cheaper either just before or after the event.

They monitored 178 offers in 2015 in stores like Argos, John Lewis, Currys and even Amazon, and discovered that only 8 percent of products on sale had special prices just for Black Friday.

38 percent of items got cheaper shortly after the sale ended.

So please use this thread to post ripoffs ,humbug , organic bovine excrement super-dooper-wonderful-life-enhancing-once-only-really-we-mean-it-this-time offers and indeed, anything else about Black Friday that enrages or annoys you

Moved this from Deals to Misc as it's not a deal

Keeps the economy moving. If idiots want to buy, let them. The internet can compare prices instantly and check historical price data. So instead of people checking/researching. They'd rather watch Eastenders.

Black Friday was only good when no one knew about it but it's just another normal markdown bigged up to make it look good

The law needs to protect "vulnerable" people which it does quite well.

As always -buyer beware! or at least give it a bit of thought . To be honest Amazon are among the worst eg 50% off a totally dreamt up price (just check their Lightning deals now oO ) . High street stores are nearly as bad but at least the "was" or previous" price has had to have been at one of their stores ( presumably the one in Lesser Curmudgeonaly ) for 28 days in the last year - I pity those who shop there !

Shop around folks as always and don't be misled by "wild " unsubstantiated 50% off" claims , but we all know that anyway - don't we ?

If you don't really know what is a deal - Ask ! . I know what a deal is on ,say, golf equipment but wouldn't have a clue what an X station with 10gb GTV is worth ( I think I have the right letters but probably in the wrong order oO )

hate cack friday

black friday is all about the comedy for me , i just tune into live streams of people fighting in stores in america for a cheap T.V X)

The point of HUKD is to get the research and checking in one place so people can have a life rather than spend time researching/checking/obsessing ,and being savvy is a thing that needs constant attention and adjustment : this site is meant to help people find the good deals and avoid the bad.
Some of us come here to help those who don't have the skills to deal with all the internet lies.
Have a heart mate. You won't just feel better , you'll actually be better.

Do your research if you are after something. Don't buy on impulse. Check the super hot deals.
Most times people here know a good bargain and so look at those 300+ degrees hotness.

Old phrase "a fool and his money".........

I have never heard of "Rip off deutschland", Rip off Norway.... It has always been this since I started shopping, http://www.weeklygripe.co.uk/AImg/rip-off-britain.jpg

It's a always a good idea to check prices elsewhere than buying from a specific retailer.

I would never do black friday again, went to local Tescos 3yrs ago, OMG it was like a war zone ppl hitting ppl over a TV that no one had hear of the make b4,

I honestly was scared and still feel shaky now writing it here, I would rather pay full price than witness anything like it again

Unfortunately ALL companies know that the UK (the mugs) pay more for most things than the rest of the world does.
E.G. Apple !

I am sorry but I cannot see the justification to charge the UK more for most things just because we may not be as efficient as another country.Take Greece for example, most of the country used to work for the government & retire in their 40s but their cost of living was waaaaaay lower than ours.

My wife works in a certain well known clothing store, they currently have a sale on (pre black Friday) and she said that they have (for example) a top that was £30 but is now £15 .. but for the sake of Black Friday they have now put a 50% sticker on to make it look like they have knocked the price down purely.. they all know it's a con but they have to do what the company says!

You could always try selling yourself in a Black Friday deal. Don't tell us men fighting over you to see who can get the most inches isn't a nightly fantasy you have.
You could even take Summer as backup.

I don't see how that works. If you have lower productivity you earn less money , prices don't go up unless inflation pushes them up and the pound has been floating free on the money markets for decades. There is definitely a corrupt culture that raises prices artificially - you always pay the same in pounds for computer components that Americans pay in dollars even when the tax rates change and currency rates shift , and a few years ago a newspaper showed that you could pay less for a new (American bought ,British built) ford car after paying import duty, shipping costs and the price to switch left/right hand drive than you would buying the same model in the UK new.

If 38 percent is cheaper after black Friday, that means that 62 percent will be the best price during black Friday sales. That's actually quite a good number in my opinion.

Although not a Black Friday deal apparently this is a 'Black Tag 'Deal'' - currys.co.uk/gbu…tml! oO

there really must be about 12 black friday threads at least this one tells the truth
