Blackberry Messenger

I'm a no nonsense iPhone user if i want to talk to someone I just call or text message them, but people keep asking for my PIN.

How does this work? What is it? Is it any good?

Can I get the BBM on a non Blackberry phone. What's the cheapest compatible mobile, any difference between the different models. All help appreciated. Thanks.

So what is your PIN number? Also can you send me your card..

Either they have whats app messanger or ping. Its like blackberry where you can message other iphone users free. They are both apps that you need to download, 59p each i think.

i have a blackberry and was also wondering about it. is blackberry messenger free or does it use up texts and also do you need the internet bolt on thing (as i dont have it)

i've only just got the phone and am about to go on holiday for a month so thought i may as well just add it on when i get back as i wont use it whilst away

The BB messenger is a type of MSN only for black berry users all over the WORLD.

You must have some sort of BB plan or internet plan n order to use it. Instead of asking people for their emails you just need their PIN number and up you go. You can chat with anybody that has a bb for free once you have it set up. Unlimited number of chatting messages or voice messages, even pictures I think.

If you were to send a Text message from your IPHONE to someone abroad they will charge you more than a normal text message to the UK. but with BB messenger is simple free.

You can not use the BB messenger unless you have a bb, I think you can get cheap BB for under £100.

The thing with BB messenger is that is quite popular and is growing all the time.

So just to clarify if you have a BB package but not an internet package you can still send the BB message, etc for FREE.

You must check with your company how to activate this BB plan, must places they give you the BB messenger for free for a year or so when you buy a BB, just check. Hope this makes sense.

Last thing the BB Messenger messages do not count as part of your TEXT message allowance, they should be unlimited and a separate thing

Thanks asandino, explains perfectly, pretty much what i presumed it was.
Rep sent.

Okay say I want to get a cheap blackbery just to use this cause so many people are using it. can i still take advantage of BBM if i jus buy a pay as you go. (Got 3 lines really don't need another)

Also do like the cheaper older model Blackberries still give you the same features in terms of BBM (not phone hardware features) as the newer models?

Any cheap deals out there?

well, if your going on holiday i suggest you turn off ALL your data connections, so if you do have internet, email turn it off. I went on holiday recently and my bill was £3 before i left, when i got back it was £97!! so be careful

As far as older models i am unsure, BUT if you want to use BBM you HAVE to have internet access, o2 pay as you go do data plans so cehck it out on their website. Also, if you already have a blackberry and a sim you can ask them that you only want the blackberry service so that means no call allowance, no text allowance , you only get instant email, bbm and internet access but apparently you can only do this instore *so it says on the o2 site. I think its around £15 a month

Thanks

Does a wifi option mean i don't need a data bundle to use it, also this is compatible with BBM right? And do the different hardwares have different features on BBM (specifically) or are the features the same for every phone model.
A lot of questions I know but all help is much appreciated.

Okay, ive got the blackberry bold, the 9000 version, this is the stupid thing about blackberries, when your using wi fi, you would obviously expect to bbe able to connect to the net and use other features, WRONG, you still need a data plan even to use wi fi!!

If i dont have a data plan, its asks to suscribe to a data plan or something along those lines! Using BBM, you need a data plan, but when you are at home you can use wi fi instead of your data. but regardless you need a data plan whether you choose to use wi fi or not. Use data when there is no wi fi access point, and use wi fi when there is an available connection!

Yes I hear something similar you must have a BB plan or data plan in order to use bbmsn. The bb msn I believe does not work with WIFI.

But if you have the choice go for a bb with WIFI at least you could browse the web for free using your wifi.
