Don't bother with Otex, it does work but you may as well just use olive oil.

Warm it up a little (careful it is not too hot!) and put a few drops in your ear. Tilt your head and stay like that for at least 10 minutes, then repeat with the other ear.

Do this 3 days in a row and see if it improves, if not make an appointment with a nurse to have your ears syringed. Keep using the oil until your appointment.

Be amazed when you leave the nurse that suddenly you have super powered hearing!

I have to have it done every few years and it always gets me when you can hear things like your trousers rubbing against your shoes.

Olive oil, ottex, ear candle ? Don’t use cotton bud though as pushes wax further and damage possible

Damn been using buds. Got ottex out to use to find out from when open dispose within 4 weeks, had it longer so disposed. Will need to get and try again thnx
My daughter had something similar recently and our wait to see the ear, nise and throat specialist is more than 3 months. In the meantime the doctor prescribed a ‘nose balloon’. She basically blocks one nostril and inflates the balloon with the other nostril by exhaling. In the early stages she could actually feel the stuff in her ears moving! It’s similar to a diver equalising and can be replicated without the balloon. Alternatively they are pretty cheap on amazon if you want to give it a go

If you’re in London try Hearology. It’s a little pricey but they suction out anything in the ear. My wife went with blocked ears after alternatives didn’t work and she said it was money well spent.
Microsuction. Google The hearing clinic, £50 it costs and it's basically a hoover in your ear
My doctor recommended sinus type nasal spray for my son when she didn't see any blockage
Is it due to having a cold or just blocked?
Aunty went to a local opticians of all places and they offer a syringe service think it was about 30 odd quid maybe try your local high Street
Depends what and where blockage is....
Wax outer ear then olive oil or micro suction
If its infection don’t put anything in see doctor
If its sinus or Eustachian tube then sinus wash with salt sterile water
You could possibly have glue ear, this is when liquid is trapped between the ear drum and canal if i remember right, my son had surgery and had to have gromets/tubes implanted to drain the fluid. It is kept in for around a year and falls out by it self or can be removed when it is time.

Sometimes the sound would be muffled, other times too low and sometimes nothing at all.. or even sound like as though your in a cupboard with the door closed listening to people on the outside..

Cotton buds are the worse things to use.

I worked with a lady that used cake icing plunger device (at own risk) - surprising how a little blob of wax affects hearing. Ottex tickles ears weird sensation. (But if you've pushed the wax down prob wont work)
You might have an ear fungal infection
Have you tried speaking to your pharmacist and possibly taking decongestants?
Keep on bothering your doctors until they refer you to get them vacuumed, just pretend your in a lot of pain. I have a rare serious ear condition which causes my ears to get blocked up fast and regularly, its just a coincidence that i actually had my ears vacuumed yesterday and i understand how horrible and depressing it can be when you have pressure in your ears constantly. I hope you get it sorted, the doctors keep putting me off for 6 months saying nothing is wrong and by the time they actually referred me, there had been a large polyp against my ear drum for months and i needed an operation to remove it and due to 6 months of no waxing being able to escape it caused my ear drum to burst and dead skin cells to pass into my middle ear and now i have a life long condition ( colesteatoma ) and future operations to remove the growth from my middle ear and reconstruction of the bones etc that have been eroded with prosthetics.
Don't take no chances keep on at them

Where do you get them syringed at the doctors ? Many places have stopped doing it and hospitals only use micro suction ( vacuum )

What do you mean when you say you are being fobbed off by your surgery? Are they just saying your ears don't need cleaning out or something?

If they are saying your outer ear looks clear, I'd really recommend not putting anything at all in it (especially not cotton buds or otex!) as you could be causing more problems if the issue lies in your inner/middle ear, where they can't see. If the issue continues, go back to see them and they might give you a referral.

However of it is blocked in the outer ear then the olive oil thing mentioned above should work fine.

Having blocked ears is super frustrating, I've lived with ear problems all of my life so I understand your pain!

Fobbed off as in first they said machine broke down to clean eats, then said your ortex and now when ring they say we don’t offer service here. So will have to do hoke remedy. Have been using earbuds as daily shower but have stopped since was told Above

I just went into my doctors surgery and asked to make an appointment with a nurse to have my ears syringed, they said I had to use oil for 3 weeks before they would do it. Made me an appointment for 3 weeks from that day.

Ah that's annoying that they are giving you different stories! Not sure if you've looked already but the NHS website gives the following advice:

"Earwax usually falls out on its own. If it does not and blocks your ear, put 2 to 3 drops of olive or almond oil in your ear twice a day for a few days.

Over 2 weeks lumps of earwax should fall out of your ear, especially at night when you're lying down.

There's no evidence that ear candles or ear vacuums get rid of earwax"

They also say that not all GP surgeries offer earwax removal services and that a pharmacist is able to offer further advice if you need it.

Hope you get it sorted!
