Blocked toilet in our student house with a landlady thats rather weird!

I know you must be wondering what this thread is about... well its not that good but made me chuckle, specially with the situation we're in!!

Right, the drainage under our house is blocked... Its an old house so supposingly flushable wipes aren't allowed down. So for two days we've had a builder round that either doesnt have a long enough draining rod or its too blocked for him to fix. Now after 4 days of no toilet, or shower drainage my landlady left me a 4 minute voicemail, with muffled voices for half of it... the other half is rather harsh...

Our landlady is talking to her husband telling him that she's writing a text to us to say she's sending people round tomorrow to get it fixed, her husband then snatches the phone off her and says "dont say that! dont promise them anything!" our landlady is shouting back saying "they cant even flush the toilet!!" to which his reply is "dont tell them just say asap, you can do it later in the week!! say you'll get it done asap!" to which it cuts off.

Then we recieve a text saying "will fix the drain asap." In the meantime we have toilet water and poo running down the side of their house... lol

i know i know i didnt use them.... promise! Just weird that the husband thinks it isnt very important. Shes done good so far sending a builder round twice although he didnt manage to do it

Sounds like you are still in a good mood, that's the main thing! I would not know what to do if I couldn't go to the toilet!

They have you over a barrel TBH, it's not like you can move easily with you being students and have work to do.

Probably needs jetting to be honest. Did the guy lift up the manholes, ive never not been able to shift a block.

he has draining rods and lifted a manhole, it wasn't long enough on the first day, second day he came back with longer ones but it didnt work. I might tell landlady about dyno rod, she quoted £300 but its £120 + VAT fixed price for their most expensive service and come out 24 hours a day!

Aww lucky xD I hardly get the chance to go home because I live so far and the train costs too much to go back every week.

Gutted about the shower, you know anyone with a shower you can use? I'm glad I'm ensuite

lol, have you told her about the voicemail? Her reaction might just be priceless!

OP said flushable wipes so I assume he means they want to use those like toddlers do?

lol at thread title. Just grab an arm each and pull her out. Then tell her not to block the toilet again.

    +1

She'll think you've bugged her phone or something!! Landlady sounds nice enough but the husband is obviously a bit of tool. Drainage problems should be dealt with ASAP (i.e. 1 or 2 days) not whenever they can be bothered to get round there.

Yeh she tries to do stuff, we have a few jobs on the go, like new gate, window, kitchen units and two hob rings. I see why she gets delayed, because he stops her!

It'd be funny to just bring up in conversation about how annoying it is when other halts disagree, could start a bitch fest against the husband! Lol
