Bloody Dreaded Blue Screen problem

Finally installed Vista and setup the router so my internet access at home is restored for my other devices.....

That went well however now I get a problem with my main PC (the one which router is connected to)

After I switch it on...10 minutes later a blue screen appears with the following message:

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

which after it then reboots.....and then it happens all over again!

I was thinking has this got something to do with the network card I had to install in order to setup the router?

Any advice please?

Skippy....you and PCs..don't excatly get on together do you???!!!LOL

Try putting that message you get into GOOGLE and see if it comes up with a solution...never had it so cannot offer any guidance sorry.

Microsoft support site, basically says its a problem with a driver . The blue screen will come up normally when shutting down or going on to standby. you really just need to find out which driver it is and try the lastest update for it.

you may find that on the blue screen it will say a file name, normally something.sys if you can see this you can google it and it will tell you what driver is causing the problem.

If not try removing things connected via usb and see wether you get the same problem when they are disconnected, this should help identify if its one of those devices with a problem so you can update it.

If you have anything that is connected by IEEE 1394 (firewire ) then it looks like a known issue so download this update

If you think its the network card, try updating the driver or to test it disable the device from device manager to see if the problem still happens.

Also if not already make sure your update with windows updates as this may well solve the problem.

Hope this makes sense and helps

Not knowing what software you have on your system. I came across this conflict that has since been resolved:

Ghost 9.0 & Kaspersky Causing: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

Removed Kaspersky a problem resolved.

Also not sure what service pack your using.
