Blu Ray player that can access the network?

    Banned
Just curious if there is a blu ray player that can access files stored on a NAS or a PC on the network.
I know some new blu ray players have an ethernet connection to allow access to youtube etc

I want a device that can access movies, music and pictures stored on a NAS on the home network, like how a wd tv live can, but I also need it to be able to play actual blu ray disks.
No idea what I need other than two seperate devices by the sounds of it (i.e. a wd tv live and a dedicated blu ray player). A standalone home theatre/media PC would do the trick I guess but would be expensive and look ugly next to the TV.

    Any suggestions?

Can it easily playback blu ray rips, .mkv files etc from a NAS box?

The nas would need to be dlna compliant for the ps3 to see it on the network.

ps3 doesn't support mkv, I convert mkv files to mpeg using mkv2vob. Only takes a few mins and works really well,

Thanks, but at £369, I could get an ASRock ion 330 home theatre PC with a blu ray player for less, which is also more practical.

Actually, I'm wondering if that is actually the best solution - the ASRock PC.

It has been a rocky road trying to grt my PS3 to be a media hub, but through the use of a freeware program called PS3 Media Server ]http//ps…um/ and the last iteration of the program I have FINALLY got everything working smoothly. The program is great as for file types the PS3 does not recognise there is an excellent transcoding ability.

It was not the easiest program to configure, and it took me a lot of trial and error as my network is a little unique comprising of wired, wireless and homeplugs. But now everything talks to each other perfectly. If you have a standard wired setup it is really easy to sort out. so give this a try if its an option.

heres an old pic from last year, the one on floor was put up for sale as mrs bought a new cabinet and it didn't fit(by an inch as you can see) top is off to show what it is, as some mistook it for a dvd player.

the one in cabinet looks less tasty but was cheap and the only one that would fit the cabinet and there are many more available now as the popularity of these rises.
