There are a few android apps that are supposed to help with poor gps, have you tried any; trying one of these apps on an Umi Zero showed my gps wasnt working at all, it was estimating my position using wifi and cell tower signals only!!

Since the gps modules I have seen tend to be wired addons to dash cams, it might be worth looking through the site where you bought the phone.

try installing 'GPS status test and fix' free from app store, its sorted a few phones and tablets out for me.
out of interest what phone is it?

I've used several gps apps gps test for one. The gps works fine but drops out quite frequently. Jump back onto my old moto e2 and its rock solid position. The company has offered a £20 discount if i keep the phone. The phone Homtom ht17 pro is great in every other aspect, just the gps is wonk! Should i just hand back the phone perhaps?

have got the homtom ht17 non pro, to be honest its not the greatest GPS at all, I thought it was just a bad one I had got, looks like it may be a problem with homtom, my previous worst one was a doogee, I think there the same company.

Hmm looks like i might return it then. Really looking for a cheap phone that plays pokemon go fine. moto e2 has spot on gps but runs 'go' a bit slowly.

I've never had a decent experience with a Chinese phone. Originally thought I was getting a bargain with the Doogee brand, bought myself, kids and even got my parents to get one. They've all been riddled with different faults, from GPS, battery and screen. Customer service is non existent.

What's your budget for a phone?

I have a gps receiver knocking about somewhere that I used to use with a mobile phone. If it is of interest to you let me know and I will ask the Mrs where it may be and take some photos.

You should get the Qstarz BT-Q1000XT.

I trust my life to it when I fly. It is so good I bought two, one aviation dedicated, one for my phone. It is so accurate, and the features are great. See something amazing, press the red button, then look up what it is later on your Google Earth route.
