Bluetooth module for dell inspiron 640m

Does anyone know where I can get the bluetooth module for the dell inspiron 640m? I'm talking about the internal one, not the usb dongle.

Also does anyone know how this will affect my warranty with dell (i.e. I will have to open up the case of my laptop to install it).

I can't quite remember, but I think this module was around £20 as an upgrade when I purchased the laptop. I can't find it on the dell website, and the only other place I can see it is on ebay (not sure whether they are originals/compatibles).

As this laptop was fairly popular here a week or so ago, hopefully someone will be able to enlighten me!

Dell give full instructions on their website of how to replace the module so it should not invalidate your warranty...it's just like popping in new memory modules...two screws to remove /replace and its done. You may need to make sure you purchase it with a connecting cable...check to see if there's one fitted or not. Plenty of reputable sellers for Dell originals on ebay.Make sure it's for the 640...there are some older modules out there.
You will need the Dell TrueMobile 350 internal Bluetooth Module

thanks muchly

In the US, there is a spare parts phone number they can call to order it. Not sure if there is something similar in the UK. However, think Dell UK charge quite a bit more for it compared to Dell US.

would it work if i bought a US module?

Dell won't sell bluetooth modules seperate from laptops within the UK (maybe EU) because regulations say they have to do some kind of test because it uses radio waves. The only place to get them seems to be eBay. I got one a few years ago for my Dell Dimension D505 off eBay. Fitting just required sliding out the hard disc drawer (two screws), and plugging it into a slot. Obviously this may be different on your model.
