Can anyone tell me whether it is ok to boil bottled water for making tea and coffee? Using tap water there is horrible scum on top, even though the water here is soft

if you have a copper hot water tank, you may have a leak in the heating coil that is putting the heating circuit + chemicals into the drinking water

yes, you can boil bottled water

Have you washed your cup properly.
Get yourself a cheap water filter, Brita or the like.
Its OK to boil mineral water.
We have been buying bottled water for years , tastes much better than our hard tap water We've tried using a Brita water filter but no luck
It's all the plastic waste I'm not keen on as we go through about 10 x 2 litre bottles a week , over 500 a year

Not as cheap, surprisingly.

Mineral water is only 17p per 2 litre bottle in Asda/Tesco.

Exactly , I'd rather they bottled the water in glass and added a few pence and you got that few pence back when you returned the bottles
Makes more sense and should be the way forward
