BOOKING A HOLIDAY - ONLINE OR IN A TRAVEL AGENTS??

Found 10th Feb 2010
I am about to book a holiday for New Year in Egypt and have found the ideal place for us.
It's exclusive to First Choice (I've even contacted the hotel directly and was told to contact first choice with the links to their web site).

Is there anyone out there that can tell me if I could get a better deal if I visit the travel agents or is it the best price online?
i.e, would they be able to offer me a free child place etc... to try and beat the online price?

I hope there are a few agents out there that may be able to shed a bit of light,
Thanks in advance x

my friend just booked a holiday with Thomas Cook - she saw it online but wanted to book face to face incase she had made a mistake - she took the print out down to get the same deal and it came out £300 more - but they price matched the print out - so that might be worth a try.

Don't know about Egypt, but I booked holiday to Goa for wife and myself, and going through First Choice it would have been just over £1600 for the two of us, but I booked flights and hotel seperate online and the total cost was £1230, so I will be going the internet direct route in future. Got my hotel on www.somewhere2stay.com

If you do it online do it with a good well known company like Thomas Cook or Thomson, first Choice etc.

+1

I always do that when booking, I also go around a few travel agents and see if they can beat it and then go back and fourth until they refuse to go any lower, Usually save a few hundred as well.

I just booked one earlier today - I found Direct Holidays to be very cheap - same hotels etc as Thomas Cook, but nearly £100 cheaper.

Travel Agents can't get near online prices in my experience.

Thank you all for your advice. It is exclusive to first choice, no other company does this hotel...believe me, I looked lol. I've tried all of your suggestions and it doesn't appear on any of them.

Anyway, off to the travel agents for me then to try and beat them down...wish me HUKD luck!
