Booking a holidayfor next summer.

In all your experiences, is it better (cheaper) to book a holiday abroad a long time in advance, or wait until a few months before? We're looking at a group booking for 10 (5 adults 5 children) for next June/July somewhere sunny like the Canaries or Ibiza. Obviously I know last minute or cancelations are cheapest but I don't want to risk leaving that late. Let me know your opinions please!

Thanks!

Really? Sounds like s lot to loose if you can't find a hotel!

Holiday companies aren't as good as they were for last minute deals . Generally it doesn't get much cheaper in the last 30 days . Check out Travel republic, Low cost Hoidays etc for a good deal for your dates . Then look every few days -see how the prices move . You could also try an independent travel agent ,maybe not quite so cheap (they need their commission) but will do your searching for you . Holiday firms are starting to book their Hotel rooms/ Flights for next summer so could be a good time to book ,but have a good look around don't rush . Prices will be ok from now till December (the most popular time for booking -and the most expensive !) then will go down or up depending on demand . IMO check out everything -then book before December - There's nothing like that lovely warm feeling knowing hols are booked and you can safely look forward to them . You may get it 50% cheaper booking by Nov ,maybe you could get it 20% cheaper in May . Go for the booking in the next 3 months but check out all the sites and Travel Agents .

canaries and ibiza will always have accommodation

i would get a villa with a private pool as can be had for less than £100 person

we went in june to fuerteventura and booked the flight for £70 in november. it continually went up from then and was £400 a fortnight before we left. car hire was £68 booked in nov, £110 2 weeks before we left. booked a detached villa that slept 8 with a 10m heated private pool for £600 in may.

plus car hire is cheap in the canaries. google autoreisen.

Thanks a lot for your input!

We booked a few months ago for July 2015 through Thomson. Didn't want to risk a last minute deal.

Price is now £1000 more expensive. Look at different airports as well, could work out cheaper.
