what on earth is cex ????

thanks! never heard of that site before!

May be a good idea to get a backup of the supplied media (driver) disks....

And portable Apps - openoffice, keypass, VLC, 7zip, foxit reader and pidgin portable would be a nice start.

whats keypass and 7zuo. how do i get a backup of media disks

First thing to do is ]remove McAfee and install decent anti-virus / firewall like Avira & Sygate

Download Malwarebytes to help remove spyware

Remove Quicktime & Realplayer if they are there

Add onto that Media Player Classic and it's two add-ons Real Alternative & QT Lite

Finally install Firefox and follow the tips on ]Sammy on tuning Firefox for the smaller screen

I've also used Secunia Personal Software Inspector to help patch holes in my software

Finally install Belarc Advisor and print the results screen so you'll know all your licences

I'd also recommend that you partition the hard drive - I use 30gb / 90gb - so that if you ever have to reinstall Windows you won't lose all your data.

as for additional hardware, it's helpful to upgrade the memory to 2gb and I also bought a cheap USB light from Poundland as I find I use my NC10 everywhere and a small light saves the need for turning lights on
