Bought Samsung TV 4 years ago with promise for Evolution Kits which were never released, refund advice?

Hi, I bought a 55 inch Samsung F8000 series TV in 2013 for a significant amount, which was marketed at the time as having an evolution port which means years down the line I could 'upgrade' the TV without buying a whole new one.
The marketing for this was for up until 2016, however they barely made any for this TV, and no more in 2016. The ones that they did make seemed to brick peoples TV, as can be seen on the Amazon reviews.

I saw a post where numerous people got full refunds for their TV because of this issue and thought I'd try my luck. Both the online chat and phone technical 'advisers' were giving me incorrect information, telling me that a certain Evolution Kit would definitely work to then tell me it wouldn't. When I asked where I could buy one, they linked me to an eBay listing with a seller with 0 feedback (clearly fake) and couldn't find anywhere else to buy one. They told me how they 'decided' to no longer make them and support these TV's, however I explained that it was clear that the reason they no longer made them was that they were bricking everyone's TV's.

Anyway, I had an email from a member of the customer relations team which is basically fluff, it can be seen here. Is there anything I can do to get further with this or are they simply going to pie this off?

Thanks for any help.

key word: could
furthermore - you had the TV for 5 years!!!! 5!!! was it not working as intended?

edit: looked into the issue and apparently sammy was supposed to provide those kits each year. you need to find evidence of that statement and prove it without a reasonable doubt they have not done so

Yes speak to a solicitor that specialises in this sort of case. It’s much easier in America to do this sort of claim which is probably where the people you refer to live

Watching with interest. I bought a Samsung 8000 too, very high price at the time but it was sold as future proof.

It's been great until the last year or two, with smart apps like Netflix not working. An evolution kit would fix this problem!

I've just emailed John Lewis (the retailer) as suggested by the reply from Samsung, hopefully they will help me out as I have a feeling Samsung are not going to
Interesting article about this from 2016 (though with some more recent comments) ...flatpanelshd.com/new…907

I s'pose I'm technically in the same boat with a 55" H8000, but am not too bothered. Picture's fine, Netflix and Youtube still work, and any other 'Smart' stuff I want can be done via Google Chromecast.
It's not like an Evo kit was ever going to make it 4K.

Went through support who kept giving me false/conflicting info about Evo kits being released in UK. I kept asking for it to be escalated and went down the ‘missold product’ route. They basically shrugged it off and said that I should take it up with the retailer (John Lewis), who said I should take it up with the manufacturer (Samsung) so I was just going round in circles.

So yeah, I tried but unfortunately they wouldn’t budge. Please let me know if you have any different outcome.

Yeah sure. I saw another forum which people were successful. They had a template for the email and stuff but not sure if I can link it. It was for the ks8000 but the principle was the same
