Will add rep and heat to current and new replies but being a server techie and not a chef I am looking for an easy to use bread maker that I can chuck at the wife and kids for a bit of fun and to make some bread etc. Needs to be small ish and simple to use / clean. Who makes the best and why ? Not really looking at the price element too much on this one.

i've got the panasonic 255 - its brill - the only diffence between that and the 254 is that its got a bit at the top to drop olives, currants etc in - although others have said that you can just add them to the mix - so might not be worth paying the extra.

Panasonic always come out top in all the independent reviews. There are 2 new models just out, the 256 and the 257 (which has the fruit and nut dispenser) and a new type of bucket and a brioche bread mode, these replace the 254 and the255. Cant really go wrong with any Panasonic model!

right panasonic it is then me thinks. So I will get on with the task of adding heat and rep to you all for your fine efforts. If any one else has something to add you knowledge on these matters is going to be far greater than mine I will take it on board
