breaking news - lidl's self-service tills

Found 5th Oct 2016
on one of the deals threads someone commented that lidl does not have self-serve tills.

i went shopping at lidl, old kent road last week and they had brand-new tills - both staffed and self-service.

there were still long queues for the staffed check-outs as most of us didn't fancy the complexities of self-serve despite a staff member hustling for trade in that area.

this is incredible news, why isn't this on the front pages

YEEEESSSSSSSS!!!

my local lidl has had self service tills for quite some time.....this isnt breaking news its ancient news!

About time, judging by the number of abandoned baskets half full of stuff at the one I go too, they must have realized finally that someone that has 5 items isn't going wait in a line of 7 full trolleys.

have only been in there once, or it may have been Aldi. Hated it but love self checkouts as you don't have to tell the till operator what you are doing for the rest of the day ....

ouch oO that's harsh X)

There there.

Bring it on.

Don't need to spell right to scan shopping at a till sitting on there ass!! I know a few of them ☝

Lidl may have self service checkouts but are they all as slow as those in the new Stockton-on-Tees branch? If you whisk your goods through at normal "checkout operator speed" they can't cope and tell you to "remove the last item". A member of staff then has to rest the unit. After this happened to me today for the third time I was told that I was not operating the checkout correctly. When I suggested that it was not me that was too fast but the machine was too slow I was told in no uncertain terms that it was me who was doing it wrong. While it may be comforting as a 76 year old to be told I am moving too fast I suggested that said staff member should raise the slow self checkouts at his next team meeting. I was informed that it does not work like that. So ...lesson for Lidl competitors....don't give up on your customer service standards just yet, they are still appreciated and as valuable a sales asset as lower prices......
