Britain's fattest woman channel 4 18th may 2017 - entertaining or exploitative and enlightening?

Watched Britain's Fattest Woman last night on channel 4 simply out of morbid curiosity.

As Robbie Williams said, "I'm just a fat bloke dying to get out"

I try to do my best to keep that fat bloke locked in.

48 stone!!! For a woman who is 33 years old. 20 stone for ANYONE is a lot even a 6'6"" rugby player or heavyweight boxer. But over double that?!!

My 1st question is - did you see it and what are your thoughts?

2nd question is - I think this is a mental health issue - should TV companies be using this as entertainment and should the NHS be complicit in it?

3rd is - if you can get addicted to food as this woman and her husband are and people get addicted to drugs and alcohol - although all "self inflicted" where do your opinions lie? No one forces them to eat, drink, inject or should there be better help to address the underlying problems?

4th - Gazza - widely accepted as one of the best and most charismatic English footballers of the last 30 years - admittedly an area lacking in charisma - is going to be more widely known as a prolific drunk by a lot of people nowadays.

5th - Answer one or all of the questions if you like? I don't comment on threads about TV shows I haven't watched as I can't make an informed opinion but feel free if you feel the need.

What are your thoughts?

Britain's Fattest Woman Telegraph review 2 stars

Probably best to read the points before commenting - or just ignore if of no interest. I'm not trolling - just looking for a snapshot of opinion.

Gazza?

Yes. It's in the title "entertaining or exploitative"...

He has an addiction just like Sharon Hill....THE FATTEST WOMAN IN BRITAIN - Nice

I realise that she has given her consent for this film - not sure Gazza has given his consent for a lot of the pictures and stories....

I think the OP is too convoluted

Won't be watching but I've never seen "exploitative and enlightening" used together before so that was ...er... enlightening.

Fair enough. Missed the point but will make sure I comment on posts I......

Thanks for the link - 5 years old now but useful - will have a look. Remember the "case" as was astounded and depressed by it.

Am sure a lot of the comments will depress me but good to get a snapshot of Britain just before the election and to know what our fellow electorate think.

This isn't really in any way political - although it is!! and I hope that you realise that I am not taking the Mick - unlike a few of the comments from people who can't read and are ignored?

Addiction is addiction. Anorexia would be in the same class. An addiction to NOT eating.

Are these all not mental health problems that need addressing at the root?

Crikey - you had some prolific posters on here back then. You would be hard-pressed to find someone knocking them out like FilthandFurry today. oO

You're welcome.

I don't plan on voting though, so you can read my comments in the other thread at any time of the year!

Not sure what to make of your posts on those threads TBH haha?!

Seem a bit contradictory. So what's your OCD?

Isn't Sharon and Andrew Hill's OCD the fact that they obsessively and compulsively shovel food into their pieholes?

I knew someone with very severe OCD and he literally couldn't open a door. Would stand outside. It wasn't a germ thing but a mental health issue.

What's yours?

I think its funny any newspaper calling a Tv show "exploitative and troublesome".

very sad that someone gets themselves into this state.
