This is one of the reasons i'm suprised piracy is allowed to be discussed on here. Mandelson truly is the dark lord.

It's the future I'm concerned with , giving that much power to so few is not the way forward. I share the concerns of piracy and stuff but whats gonna happen in 10 to 20 years time- oh we'll just add this and that onto the bill under the guise of protecting buisinesses.

this'll never make it through the house of lords unopposed

good, stop you idiots who deny piracy from having broadband and given a punishment for thieving

did you really think that the internet would be a free for all forever....lmao

This has zero chance of happening.

Calm down, everything will be fine.

    WTF does that mean?

More to the point, this will be a 'guilty until proven innocent law' so doubtful it will ever come in

As for Mandelson, how come someone who is unelected and pretty obviously influenced by private business, can be afforded so much power.

    ISP's are against this too.

You have proven you don't have a clue about what this actually means, for all UK internet users not just the so called 'pirates'.

I'm just waiting for the day they announce a new Ministry; the Ministry of Truth, because that's were all this nonsense is headed.

And how have I proved that then, its already happening, its just extending the scope of what can be done about internet control. There is no way that it will continue to be a free ride on the internet for piracy or other means of illegal behaviour.

and criminalising a massive amount of the nations youth......great idea. If you truly understood what was going on you'd not be so quick to support it. I suggest you do some reading around on the subject, and I mean proper reading of proper research, not just the guff the record industry pay for. This all boils down to the fact that they have been incredibly slow to react to what consumers want, so consumers ("pirates") have taken matters into their own hands and the record industry (and others) want to wrestle that control back. Problem is they want to do it by criminalising their customers, not by innovating which is how a capitalist market should operate, they wouldn't need Government intervention if they were doing their jobs properly.

They always claim that piracy finances drugs and organised crime. I'm guessing they just want to actually give them a helping hand to get that dosh, instead of DIY.

Although torrent's are dreadfully slow the file you download cannot be seen as you download the file in tiny little segments from many different people, meaning that the tiny files cannot be read as anything.
