Nothing is ever free in this life. I'd check the small print.

Straight forward in my opinion -excess £99 boiler and £60 everything else . Auto renew which can be cancelled .

They are relying on your memory , laziness and fear factor hoping that you don’t end up cancelling when it comes to renew .
Great post OP . I got the email but i ignored it just like the other junk British gas emails at first (edited)

    Just excess.

They do come round first to have a look and rebook another visit to install replaced parts.

On one occassiaon they couldnt fix after replacing parts, they called manufacture WB to come down and replace half the boiler.

    Thanks, thats useful to know.
Sounds like you got a good deal there, if you'd have had to get a local plumber to fit some parts and then he'd got WB down to fit some more, I'll bet the total bill would have been a lot more than £99!
Just a reminder that this cover does auto-renew, even if you've switched to another energy provider, and they will start charging you.
They will write to you beforehand though and if you don't like the deal you can ring up and cancel, at which point they may offer you a better deal.

Good luck with the servicing I've been waiting nearly a year now for the annual boiler service they keep cancelling it.

Used to get a great service from them every year but then they sacked a load of gas engineers to up profits and this is the result.

I've got an offer of an upgrade from Homecare 2 to 4 - but currently pay no excess on call outs - this bumps it to £60 a time.

Really they harassed me to come, called me about 6 times and wrote to me twice before I agreed to them coming out, got it booked in within 4 days

Did you check how much more was with excess of zero, for me was an extra £100 per year, in the 10 ish years I've had bgas cover only called them out twice.

Hopefully not cursed myself now! (edited)

My boiler is ancient. So possibly a dozen calls in the last decade. Almost all the calls are not the boiler itself.

You're lucky- live in London. Taking the excess off on Homecare 4 took the annual cost up by over £200. But this was on a rented property where they really do rip you off.

I have this plan too with my energy tariff.
Paid the 99£ excess and changed like £30 worth of parts. Boiler is 10yrs old so needed half of its organ replaced. Overall happy with the service.
