British Red Cross First Aid at Work Course?

Has anyone here done the British Red Cross First Aid at Work (three day) Course? I am booked to go on one in the next couple of weeks and am rather nervous!

Just wondering if anyone here has gone one and if so, how did you find it?

Thanks

Done it and its really interesting, but not for my mate who had to do CPR on a colleague on the course on the 3rd day!!! The teacher panicked and couldn't do a thing!!!!!!!

Plenty of paper and a pen, some interest and you'll be fine.

You might even get a bit of mouth to mouth action from Annie

I assume said colleague carked it on the course or were they trying to kill him. lol

beat me to it-no responsible first aid course would do cpr on a live person-very strange.

I have to do mine every 2 yrs-- for some reason the kids Dad only has to repeat his every 3 yrs.

Don't be nervous babes, it's interesting and fun xxxx

Yep - I have to do it too, every 2 years,
It's good... and usually tailored around what you do

I assume Annie is the freaky looking CPR doll? I hate those things :x

I think it will be really interesting but I am just a bit nervous about it all. I have no idea what I need to take with me and to be honest the B.R.C have not been all that helpful with letting me know! I did ask them if I needed to bring paper and pens, etc but I got no reply!

So what generally is covered? Are there any needles involved (Epi-Pens?) as I am not good with needles (I will make such a good first aider!) although saying that, the other first aider on my floor doesn't like blood!

For a work course it will be things like assessing injuries, dealing with concussion, how to try and stop bleeding, applying bandages, how to perform CPR. Just the basics.

Don't worry, you won't be sticking needles.

I did the wallace cameron one which is 5 days-no needles covered-they did cover all the different types of inhalers and how to recognise diabetic shock etc but if an idiot like me can pass, anyone can!

Hope you like role-play!
