    Broadband

    Hey guys,

Im currently with VM and have a 20mb internet with them,However recently around 6pm they are putting huge limits on speeds and its soooo slow...i want to leave them and go elsewhere but atm im finding it difficult because most of the other ISP (That i know of) require a BT line and we dont have any in our area!

So does anyone know of an ISP that offers free instilation an does not require BT lines?
I would be after the same package really,20mb unlimited.

    many thanks in advance.

you chould try sky there speed doesn't drop off,

o2 all the way, They also do landlines as well. o2broadband.o2.co.uk/

I get around 20 mb and they don't cap your speed.

Been with bt and vm and both of them cap your speed. Go with o2 they have good customer service as well. (some people think they are owned by bt but they aren't.)

    Hope that helps(_;)

Never had a problem since I went to Plusnet 2 years ago.

I neva have a problem with my vm im always getting my full 20mb

Note that anyone on 20mb Virgin broadband can upgrade for "free" to 30mb, and the total cost is £18.50 per month, and that may well be less than you are currently paying.

Note upgrade is free if you already have a "superhub, if not you have to pay £30 for the superhub (a superfast modem)

It is not your Internet Service Provider that is at fault, but is probably your download / upload bandwidth usage. Most ISP's have a "fair usage policy" in their terms and conditions, meaning that they will limited or throttle your bandwidth speeds at busy periods (usually after 6pm) after you hit your maximum monthly download capacity. For futher information on Virgin Media's policy on traffic management can be found here:

An option is upgrading to their 50mb / 100mb* (in limited areas) Broadband which supposedly has no limitations. Or find another Internet Service Provider. If you try the first option it might a viable option to collate all the prices of their rivals, and if cheaper attempt to bargain with VM customer services (I believe their retentions department is now closed).

just do your bit torrent stuff overnight ;-)

Just a word of warning about O2, i think they now put limits on how much you can download, people like me on LLU exchanges and OLD contracts are fine but i'm sure new ones are not as good so check it out first.
