    Broadband help?

Just need a bit more advice. Want to sign up for Talktalk's broadband, and call plan. Currently they charge £6.49 per month (+ £11.25 line rental). We have BT line already in the house, but since we recently moved in, we don't have a landline number.

How do we get that number? call bt?

going through the post office is much cheaper - they set up the line (without charge if it has been disconnected recently) and then its £10 per month.

Oh and there is no set contract as there is with BT - you will then be able to transfer to Talktalk.

    Thanks.

As for £10 per month, do you have a link? I can only find this:

Since I'm looking for a all in one deal, PO's Home Phone with Broadband Extra' deal looks okay, cos I prefer not to do any of those transferring.

But £25/month is on top end of what I'm willing to pay; on the other hand, If I pick Talktalk's offer, I also get broadband+landline(£17.7), though probably get the 24 meg and 80gb boosters, brings the total upto £25.7.

I had the same problem. BT sign you up to a 12 month contract so you won't be able to go with talk talk as their broadband offering is linked to their line rental and as you will have to sign up to BT for a year this would not be feasable.

I chose to go with BT for the line then o2 home broadband for the broadband.

You have to get your line activated with BT first and once activated you can sign up to 02 broadband. If you have a quidco account, you'll get £50 commission and o2 are offering 2 months free broadband at the moment, and if you are a o2 mobile customer your broadband subscription would start from £7.34 a month (or £12.23 a month if you're not a customer) for standard upto 8 meg speed and unlimited downloads. broadband.o2.co.uk/hom…jsp

This process will take approx 2 weeks for the line and broadband to be set up.

I found this to be the most cost effective way to get broadband in a non cabled area. Unfortunately my bt line only supports upto 2.5meg

    Hope this helps!

you don't need to have a landline connection to join talktalk i have just set it up for a freind with talktalk

I don't? When I try and sign up with them, there is a thing that asking for landline number, which we don't have.

What do you guys think I ought to do? get talktalk to come and put new line? or get get stuck to BT by asking them to flick some switches?

get talktalk to come and put new line?

TalkTalk use the BT line, they can't install a new line.

I'd contact TalkTalk and explain the situation, I would think they could activate the line when you sign up.

If I get a new line, it will cost £60; and since I need a line, I must call them, and can't do it online to get quidco cashback... err

You've got the line, you just want it activated. As you can transfer the phone line from BT to other 'providers' without any actual changes I don't see why those providers can't activate it through BT.

Actually talk talk have just started doing the lines themselves. Anyways … Actually talk talk have just started doing the lines themselves. Anyways just ring talk talk, I've been with them for about 4 or 5 years now and never had any problems and it's really cheap.

You'd presumably be locked to TalkTalk then?
