    Broadband Provider

Hi...I'm looking for a good broadband provider to sign up to...if it's a good deal, I'm not too worried about contract length...

I've tried Beunlimited and unfortunately their service isn't available in my area (Salisbury).

I'm tempted to go for AOL but if anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it

    Hi

I,m with a small company called ADSL24 not the cheapest but good speeds and awesome back up.

I second the adsl24 recommendation

I'm with aol and have no problems with them. I would highly recommend them!

If you choose to go with them the one piece of advice would be to not install the software that they give you. it can hog resources!

They have a fair usage policy on their unlimited, but when i asked they said that fair use is up to between 60 and 90gb per month which is plenty. i download about 40gb per month and have never had any capping or emails from them.

Some people say their customer service is awfull, but whenever i've phoned up my call is answered within 5 mins, usually about 2mins.

It also worth phoning them up every 3/6 months to ask if they can make it any cheaper for you. the longer you stay with them the easier you will find this. whenever you see them offer a new cheaper deal to new customers its worth phoning as they are usually willing to drop the costs and when they offer a new model of router for free with new customers ask phone and ask if you can have one.

you can get free evening and weekend calls from your landline added aswell.

in the 2 years that i've been with them i've had my monthly rentel cut 4 times by phoning them. im currently paying 17.99 for their platinum service and phoned them earlier about getting it down to 9.99 a month. i'm having problems with bt at the moment (they've lost my landline (Don't ask!!)) but they said that it shouldnt be a problem as i've been a long time customer and said to call back once they have 'found' my bt line again.

Overall i have no complaints with their service and believe that they recieve an undeserved bad rep at the moment.

I'm happy with them and wouldn't consider switching suppliers!

    Hope this helps,

    Chris

I'm with Sky broadband and have had zero problems. Nice wireless router supplied, and I am getting better transfer speeds than with Beunlimited who I was with before (so much for up to 24mb broadband!).

Had to call them twice for minor issues and they were quick and helpful over the phone.

Thanks for replies...I've just looked at aol and they say it is £6.99 for first six months, then £14.99...but there is a 10gb usage limit...

Will this usage limit be sufficient if I want to download the albums off itunes...(I probably want to download a max of 20 plus use it for xbox live.) Cheers.

it seems like aols silver package has been replaced by the wireless packages. i would phone them up and see whether they will give you a good deal on unlimited broadband.

Their platinum is still unlimited for new customers, btu you would have to pay 29.99 a month to start of with which is a lot of money (I pay 17.99 and will hopefully be having it reduced to 9.99)

A warning to existing aol customers. i would be careful when renewing to make sure that you still have unlimited access.

I would still recommend aol as they have always given me a good service!

As for your query, i would have a look at the size of a single downloaded album and then times that by twenty to give yourself a rough estimate of the amount used. As for xbox live I've no idea how much taht uses as i have unlimited. I've tried googling it but couldn't find an answer.

All the best with your broadband
