Broadband provider Orange hijacked mothers BT call charges without her knowledge

Hello

Can anyone help me understand this? Mother got me to check her bills, and it appeared that BT were not charging her for landline calls. But lo and behold her Orange bills had call charges. She had never used Orange for a voice plan of any description, they became her broadband provider only because she had a Freeserve account back in the day, and this passed through many takeovers until ending up with Orange.

I rang Orange, who confirmed that they 'manage' the call charges now. WTF? Is this legal? It means she can't get any Friends & Family plans, and can't deal with BT for stuff like number blocking etc.

I'm thinking this must have happened when the contract was renewed (by phone, with no chance to read and check any T&C's). Looks like an 18-month contract that has only run 6 months so far. This all seems highly predatory to me. Anyone had any luck terminating such a scammy 'deal'? What do Orange high street shops offer in the way of CS? Akin to the Horne & Corden mobile phone sketch?

Cheers

Sounds ridiculous to me, i would contact ofcom & seek their advice to be honest, i would also let orange know you are going to lodge a formal complaint with ofcom,

ofcom.org.uk/com…in/

Its the same as the dodgy energy companies that mysteriously sign you up to their gas & elec plans without letting you know,:x

BT did a similar thing to us several months after switching to the Post Office

Be warned takes ages to get out of orange contracts and do get me started on wep kep problems

they are the worst company i have ever delt with ever!!

would run a mile before dealing with them

get ofcom involved like the 1st dude said, writing to them, calling them any kinda contact will be pointless took me over 6months to get a wep kep and BT fobed me off with any help too which i reported too to ofcom

don't let them screw you over anyone you take to in any guise take their name when you called and what time etc

good luck normally with ofcom's help they are suddenly very helpful .. eventually nothing like ol'd freeserve who were great!! shame really orange are one of the worst companies i've ever been apart off

ahhh sorry had to share and vent on that one!

i work for orange broadband , what package is your mother on ?
if tis a home package then orange take over line rental from BT so no line rental charges should be paid to BT if it is any other package then orange should not have taken over your mothers landline service
