    Broadband sharing question

My partner is sharing a house with 2 other girls. Now they have a 10mb Virgin connection and a netgear g wireless router to be shared by the 3 people in the house. The virgin connection belongs to her

Is there any program to check individual usage?
Is it possible to restrict each person to speed of 3.33mb of internet?
Is is possible to check how much each person is downloading?

Your answers would really be appreciated

If she doesn't trust them and it's her connection then change the network password and tell the other girls to do one.

go in to settings and remove them from the wireless

No she is happy for them to use the connection, she is unhappy that sometime the connection slows down. She is renting the house to the other 2 girls and the internet connection is included in the rent. What she would like is somehow restrict the bandwidth so everyone get equal

she can kick them off but that's it

I would suggest she uses a lan cable instead of wi-fi then she would always get the highest priority/speed (someone correct me if wrong)

You can set Wireless mode to B only which will slow down the wireless but not the ethernet cable speed.

Theres QOS (quality of service) software on the router which should share the bandwidth equally if everything is demanding it. You can install traffic monitoring software on each of the computers if you have easy access to them. That would be the easiest way of checking.

I basically turn off the wifi and unplug housemates from my switch if they are hogging it.
They don't pay a penny so don't get a say.

Will check her settings. Any specific software you would recommend. Installing monitoing software on other is not possible. She uses the LAN, whereas the other use the Wifi

Well the internet is included in the rent she charges for the house. The rent is inclusive of internet, cable and utility bills
