On speedtest.net it says I get a ping of 103.

    I've followed this link: dslzoneuk.net/soc…php ?type=html

On Step 4 I have NO wires connected... when I take off the whole plug I have the blue and blue/white wires going in to the back of the BT socket.

I don't know what to do...

Which ISP? any chanceof pic of the wires as it should just need a adsl faceplate which arelike £12 new and also stops the need for filters.

Got Sky broadband and will try uploading a pic shortly.

Your on a very long line, attenuation of 63Db means it's a very long or very poor quality line. If you have no wires connected at step 4 it means you have no extension wiring or if you do it's star wired (which isn't good for adsl). You shouldn't have gone any further than that, removing the actaul box and the wires behind (white blue suggests your fed from underground and not a pole). if you remove this box and cause the line to go faulty you risk a charge from your service provider. The fact I don't think you have any extensions and your line got better afer plugging into the master socket, is problem down to the fact that the router managed to negoitate a better connection with the exchange. 1952 kbps is perfectly acceptable for a line attenuation of 63db.

Thats internal cable, in the back of the master socket. (normal). You only have that socket in the house?

    Yup

If im not mistaken those "loose" wires you have there did you connect them to the bit with 4 holes to get a signal?

If so then you can get the ADSL faceplate and it will work easily.

Prob just a loose connection somewhere.

This is my lovely speed that is available, shame my uni blocks everything from games, to java based software(like chat rooms) loads of legit websites(some work strangely)

He doesn't need a ADSL faceplate, he only has the one connection in the house, the wires you see behind the master socket are perfectly normal. Your ISP should be able to see the results of your speed test @ speedtester.bt.com/ it will also tell you if it sess a problem. But to be fair on a line of your attenuation your not gonna get much better than 2 meg.

In my experience they generally give better speeds than a seperate filter and forums like thinkbroadband mention that too.

But saying "better" speeds its just more stable and like connecting direct to master socket

I have tons of these NTE2000 (ADSL faceplates in my van) and very rarely fit them, really no need at all on a line with only one socket.

Not bothered with porn, not being able to play online games like CS Source though, urrrgh.

I can though but need a tunneling proxy and no idea how to set one up and dont want to pay for one(or only a few quid) as im moving in 3 weeks,

What it can do is great though! I get up to like 7 megabytes a second(not megabits) meaning if I download say a 300 megabyte file it only takes about 45 seconds.

Send me some lol would be good for my new place, as theres 3 sockets there(though 1 is VERY old) 1 newish one upstairs 1 newish downstairs.

You only need one, fit one at the master socket and it filters all other connections, hence eliminating the need for seperate filters in each in use socket.

I know but I get paranoid lol

I don't know my phone number lol, is there a website that can tell me what landline number I am using?

pick up your phone, dial 17070

Or use your landline to ring your mobile(just hang up landline before it connects)

Dont use a phone. Only got BT connection for broadband.

Look for an old bill then

Perhaps if you log into your isps member page it will tell you the number?
