    Broadband without Phone Line

I'm asking on behalf of my friend, if there are any companies that provide broadband without the need for a phone line. Other than Virgin.
Any help will be great. Thanks!

Any mobile phone provide will do a 3g braodband connection from £10 per month (maybe cheaper) Its via a plug in modem, I would approach your mobile phone provider to see what they have on offer, try to get the provider that offers the best signal in your house

The only other option that you have will be mobile broadband, take a look here:
    broadbandchoices.co.uk/mob…tml

It explains most of the options.

if you mean through a BT line then the answer is a big fat NO!

they are not giving this up easy as consumers could then use low cost IP phones like skype nd cut them out

sorry if it not what you wanted to hear

Most mobile phone companies offer broadband deals that use landline connections. That isn't what you want. They also offer deals that use the cellphone network instead, but it is easy to get confused. Make sure you are looking at MOBILE broadband, or "broadband anywhere" .

Don't expect mobile broadband to be fast though. I can be, if you are right under a cellphone mast, but mine gives me no more speed than a dial-up modem, less than 56Kbps. It is on all the time though, like real broadband. I use it with a satellite downlink connection which IS fast, but needs some other connection for the uplink. It is better than a dialup modem for that because it is on all the time and doesn't tie up the phone line.

Unfortunately, my satellite ISP seems to be unavailable for new business. Their website has been "under construction" for six months now. My connection still works (and they still take the money) but I don't know how you would go about getting a new account. This is NOTHING to do with SKY, who offer only landline broadband.

Here is a link to the German company that supply my satellite service. Unfortunately, they are NOT the British franchisee that you have to go through. This link is for those in Eire, who can subscribe direct with the German company, so it is in English, though with Euro prices. Just to see what is available and how it works.

not so, mum just got the lower speed connection for £9.0 per month for a year - no TV, no phone etc, just the BB!

not the fastest in the world, but will do for emails/surfin the odd www

Invest in a large wireless antenna and take advantage of an un-encrypted wireless router... *cough*

Is that completely without any landline whatsoever?

The situation is basically, she can't have Virgin as she still has a contract with them in her ex's house. He's paying it but cannot put it into his name as he has bad credit, or is it possible? I don't know.
I don't think she minds the speed of the broadband as its just a case of being able to go online & talk, as she's a single mum and a bit lonely.
Does anybody know if there's a way she can find out the strength of mobile BB in her area?

Thanks for all your help guys, have repped some, will rep you all soon.

she can just pop her postcode in … she can just pop her postcode in here:http://www.three.co.uk/personal/coverage_/broadbandCoverageChecker.door here:http://maps.vodafone.co.uk/coverageviewer/web/default.aspxor here:http://www.webmap.o2.co.uk/or here:http://coverage.orange.co.uk/uk/UKCoverageSearch.htm

Thanks for that, have just checked her postcode & looks like it covers that area!

exellent, if she won't be using it much I would personally suggest going for an 18 month contract with 3 as you get the dongle you need free (whereas it would normally cost £50) , and as long as she stays within the 1gb usage there is nothing she needs to pay other than the £10 a month.

Its very easy. No Landline, as its just a dongle which goes into your USB port & you are on & going ANYWHERE & Everywhere...
