    Broken Camera

I dropped my friends camera on the floor by accident and now it won't work! It's frozen completly with the lense out. Does anyone know any highstreet type stores i could take it to get fixed?

I'm really stressing about it, any help would be lovely.

Does your friend know it was you? If not, put the camera down and walk awayyyyyyy.

    Three suggestions;

1 Google the make of the camera and 'service and repairs' and you'll get info.
    EG for canon
    canon.co.uk/Sup…spx

2 Or try Jessops and ask for help

3 Break into your piggy bank and buy her a new one

on a serious note though repairs will probably cost more than the camera. use the wrist strap in future. Im sure you have some places that specialise in electrical goods in your local town, might be worth taking it into somehwere like that...But chances are they will say the same.

just tell your mate she can use it as a paperweight

Piggy bank? I'm a student haha. If i can't get it fixed though i'm going to have to buy her a new one think its about £100 half price so could be worse, expensive night out that was.

either of you got insurance? ;-)

you be able to get it fixed but it will cost more than a new camera.

what the camera make and model - this is hotukdeals well find the cheapest deal on it going :-D

:?do you means the lens has fallen out or just stuck out :?if its still under guarentee try taking it back to the shop and say its just jammed if its tesco or asda they would prob exchange it good luck xx

i would buy her a new one and try to get a good deal possibly with extras to say sorry for her inconveniance

I agree with above comments. You might as well get a new one because a repair is going to cost almost the same or more.

and oh yeah dont touch any of the cameras on display there! lol

    girlfriend had same problem

was told either £65 or £35 (cant remember exact) butwould take upto 6 weeks

Did that to mine the 1st week I had it. Trip to Disneyland Paris and I dropped it trying to help someone take a photo of their family. The lens was jammed and there was a dent where it hit the floor.

After I stopped sobbing, I put it in the charger and it kicked into life - the lens retracted and it started charging! It's worked perfectly since then. Might be worth a try and it wont cost you anything.

OK I exaggerate. Although it did leave a mark on both the camera and the concrete.
    (Obviously cheap French concrete!!)

i had mine repaired but it was a few years ago-in Liverpool-a cam shop-cost about £25 and the cam was around £100 to replace. Worth getting an estimate tbh

If it's in the normal warranty period, take it back. don't explain any more than to say "It's stopped working" - which is perfectly true. This is the one time when it's an advantage having shop assistants who have little or no real knowledge.

    Good luck!

PS You sound like a good firend to have. Rep added

It was an accident, i've already told her if i can't get it fixed then i'm going to buy her a new one obviously, extras lol i can barely afford to buy her a new one! Shes lovely though and offered to pay half but i would never take her up on it doesn't matter if it was an accident at the end of the day it's my resposibilty. She has a guarantee on it as she only got it at exams so might try and get it off that first.

dont bother trying to claim on insurance as most will charge £100 excess for camera equipment
