    Broken motherboard after bios flash.

Hi, i have a gigabyte am2 motherboard that no longer posts after i flashed the bios.
I was getting ACPI compliant blue screen errors so i flashed the bios with latest patch from gigabyte website now the pc powers up but nothing at all posts on screen.
Tried clearing cmos, removing battery, changing memory, gfx card swap etc but nothing at all works.
Anyone got any ideas on how i can fix this before i contact gigabyte for a replacement, its 18 months old and i THINK it has a 2 or 3 yeear warranty.
    Thanks

nothing comes on screen though..... just no signal at all despite the pc starting up with fans etc.

Try booting with just one stick of ram, gfx card and HDD installed.

Tried clearing CMOS, should be instructions in manual or online, normally … Tried clearing CMOS, should be instructions in manual or online, normally you move a jumper on the motherboard for 30 secs, power on, then power off, replace jumper to original position and power on again.

tried that, read my post again.....

Does it have onboard video and you normally use a GFX card? Could it have defaulted the default output to that? You sound pretty savvy anyway just throwing things out there :-)

Sounds like a bad flash. Check the manual for any emergency flashing procedures, some automatically scan the floppy drive for a bios in the case of a bad flash. Double check you had the right bios to flash tho as that might have caused the problem in the first place! Failing that it's warranty replacement time I'm afraid

Savvy as in you have tried the usual things - didn't want my 'advice' to sound like I was teaching you to suck eggs

    2.0

From another forum, reply from gygabyte.

    Dear Sir,

Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, with Xpress BIOS Rescure feature, when main BIOS is corrupted, system will try to find a backup BIOS from HDD or other storage devices automatically.

Please download the BIOS file from our website first. gigabyte.com.tw/Sup…446

To storage it into hard disk drive, optical disk drive, USB flash storage, even floppy disk drive if you have. To see if system can restore main BIOS from these devices automatically.

Unfortunately, if the problem still remains, we suggest you contact your retailer/supplier, or, contact with local distributor for checking and repairing.
