    Broken PC - Any warranty advice?

    Hi,

    I am hoping that somebody will be able to offer me some advice regarding my PC. It is 2 years old but has a 3-year warranty with it. The problem is that it has broken 4 or 5 times now for a number of reasons and has always been repaired at my home. It has now broken again and they want to take it in to be repaired, as their engineer has no idea what is wrong with it.

    Is there anyway I can request a new computer as this one is too much of a problem. Or as it is 2 years old will I just have to keep having it repaired until the warranty runs out and then bin it?

    Any advice would be appreciated

    What make is it? Worth calling customer services to complain?
    Certainly not fit for purpose if it broke 4-5 times? But it is outside your SOGA rights (12months).
    Is the warranty on site or RTB?
    If on site they are obliged to fix it in a reasonable timeframe at your home OR replace it.

    Thanks for the reply. It is a Siemens computer..

    Tried calling the helpline but they aren't interested and just said that it would be collected. They also would not provide a number for the complaints department telling me that I had to out my complaint in writing.

    The warranty is onsite but the engineer was unable to diagnose the problem so recommended that it be returned.

    Wouldnt let them take it, can often result in you being without your computer for a long time and the problem doesnt get fixed anyway.

    Say that this is the 5th/6th time it has broken down (is it the same fault each time?) and you are not happy, you want a replacement model of equal value to what you paid at the time (I got an upgrade from 2GB ipod to 4GB ipod because the prices had changed since it was bought)

    Ask them to send an engineer who knows what he's doing.

    Could that have been me? I clicked on the add to reputation icon and then the I approve option but left no comment.

    Anyway thanks to you for your help, I have written a letter to the complaints department and will have to wait and see what happens
