Broken PSP help!

Found 12th Aug 2008
Hey, My PSP has been unwell for a little while but its finally on its last legs. Im just wondering if ayone has had, or knows of someone else who has had the same problems.

I reckon the problems stem from the fact that its been dropped lots of times but oh well.

First of all, The analogue stick has a mind of its own, it tends to veer right but also goes down on its own. Secondly it doesnt seem to power down properly. I can turn it off but the power light remains on but is very dim (this is even after the battery has totally run down) and when I turn it back on the X button seems to be in like a turbo mode, pressing itself a million times until I press it, then it breaks completely and doesnt work at all. All of the other buttons work fine however.

I realise its a bit complicated, but would appreciate any constructive help. Its out of warranty btw.

Ta.

To be honest mate i would say its beyond hope of economical repair, if it was just one fault then maybe, but all of them id say its R.I.P. PSP

Poop. Was thinking that myself. Ive tried cracking the case off but there is one screw that is properly stuck. I dont know if anyone knows of a kit complete with everything I need to dismantle it? Like they do for the consoles :?

unless you know what you are doing, prob best bet is list as faulty on ebay, as is, no returns, etc - will still get best price for parts / repair

What you reckon? Anywhere near the £40 mark?

Maybe, dunno. Check the completed auctions to see what they achieve. I'd guess it also depends on things like whether it's boxed, has accessories etc. The kind of people repairing them probably make use of all the bits and bobs...

I was just having a look on ebay, and found this: 130244120700

Seems to be exactly what I need to repair my unit, if only I could crack the damn case off!

Is it a normal screw type head? Have you tried giving it a turn as if to tighten it first? Sometimes this works with jammed screws? Failing that carefully drilling out the screw head with a dremel or cordless drill? You should then be able to disassemble and use pliers to remove the remainder.

Blag it and get it exchanged for a new one or are you saying the serial no. came off?

I took the warranty sticker off to dissassemble.

It is just a standard screw, one of the micro philips ones which makes it very awkward to untighten
