BT fibre and TP link n600 set up questions?

    Hello,
got this router from argos "TP-LINK N600 Dual Band Modem Router" , got it working perfectly...

But now we got fibre installed, will this work?
We have a new socket and from what I understand the set up should be, Socket>cable>wan port (not adsl port)> then set it up with bt user and pass???

    Thanks for looking.

The wan port on your router is the connection to connect up a fibre router too, which you will need if your router has got it built in.

If it has then you go socket-cable- dsl socket on your router

If it hasn't then you go socket-cable-infinity modem- wan port router.

At least that what it looks like from BT help pages.

Have Plusnet and just ordered a Router nearly the same did bookmark this for some help. Might not help u though,

Looking at the N600 you will need a infinity modem for that to work. Like the below though not specific to your router, that diagram at the bottom might be your type of setup.

Been reading all afternoon on this and i am almost there.
The N600 won't work straight from the socket because is not a VDSL modem/router.
To get it to work I need a open reach modem.

Don't know if this is right.

Yes but not necessarily an openreach branded one, there are others out there. Though if you are upgrading to BT infinity then they should offer you a BT home hub. To do what you need you need a BT Home Hub 5, you maybe able to do it with a home hub 4 but I have heard nothing but bad things about the 4. The five is a very good router on its own, dual band including the newest standard a/c, so you will probably be happy with that alone. If you are, you can then use you're N600 to extend you're wifi if you need to.

Do you mean modem or router? If its a router then RJ45 on the telephone socket to dsl socket on the router, router to computer and thats it they are already configured,
