BT i plate must it go in main socket or will it work in another one pls?

    Hi
With slow downloads i took advice from this forum, and bought an iplate from BT. I know this should go in the main socket of the house. In the future we are planning to move our router to the main socket but for the next 6 months or so the router is still plugged into another socket. Is there any point in putting the iplate on this socket. Might it improve downloads a bit or has it got to go on the main one.
The reason i cant move router at the moment is its by the side of my main old computer but we are hoping to change things in about 6 months. i was just wondering whether i could speed things up a little before that.
Sorry probably a very obvious answer but i am very untechnical.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, as I understand it you can only fit the iplate to the main socket, it then does not matter if you plug router into main socket, just use your existing set up.....works for me.
