BT Line Reprovision - Do they send out a engineer?

Just ordered a phone line via post office, but forgot to ask if Openreach will actually send an engineer to reconnect the line. I know the line is dormant as the 17070 gives me the line number (and a dial tone of course). Would rather not sit in the the house all day waiting for someone, but if I do I'd better plan to take a day off work.
    TY!

if you physically have the line and even the dial tone, then no-
he wont come to you, just do some bits at the exchange at most

you dont need to be in

It depends, if an engineer has been booked he will attempt to gain access. As he will have to do a provison of line pair quality test.
Does 17070 give you the correct number?

17070 is giving a number which the Postoffice online system and BT adsl check didn't recognise, so am not sure if it is correct or not to be honest. I thought if it came up with a number it was fine? The PO guy found a valid connection when I gave him the address, and said it would be a free reconnection.

Sometimes it still gets issued to the field, good jobs for us engineers. It's likely just to be a stop start in the exchnage. So the likelyhood is you'll not need to grant access to your premises.
