Buchanan, Clark and Wells?

Had an automated message from these the other day and ignored it, as you do.

Just had another one so thought it might be important, a quick Google suggests it's a debt management company. I've never had any debt at all apart from a credit card which is paid off in full every month and my mortgage.

Should i phone?

What was the message?

If it's that important they'll leave a message.

the tales of this company are legendary-they are evil, scheming.lying conniving thugs masquerading as a reputable company-there have been so many shocking stories in papers/tv shows over the years I have lost count-they threaten, frighten and any other tactic they can think of-they are one of these companies who "buy" debts from other companies-they changed their name to make them sound like a firm of solicitors(which they are not)-they are scumbags-ignore them.

Hello, please call 08445714210 quoting unique reference number blah blah … Hello, please call 08445714210 quoting unique reference number blah blah blah, please note this is not a marketing call

The fact they say it's not makes me think it is, and googling the number says it's been 'reported as a possible telepest'

But I have no debt to 'buy'.

Nope

I think that barky has them bang to rights then!

Ignore and/or report to Trading Standards and/or sue for stress-induced time off work!

They tried telling me I owed money to O2 before so I just ignored them and they soon went away.

lol-told me I owed 1000 quid to t mobile-Ive never been with t mobile in my life! the guy on the phone tried to tell me I had to prove I didnt owe the money or they would take me to court-I told him to bring it on,this was 2 years ago, never heard from them since. Liars and chancers.

Do not respond.

If they have genuine business with you, they will write.

Do nothing if you don't hear from them in writing, and if they call you again, tell them politely to put their complaint in writing to you then hang up.

But don't give them your address if they are legit, they should have this.

Just phoned them as it was annoying me,

Them - "can I please have your reference number"

Me - "blah blah blah"

Them - "confirm your name and address"

Me " who are you, why have you rang me"

Them "We are Buchanan, Clark and Wells"

Me "ok, what do Buchanan, Clark and wells do?"

Them "lots of things"

me "ok...... such as?"

Them "Can I have the phone number"

Me "gave phone number (as I was on the phone anyway so didn't think it was bad giving them it)"

Them "We have details for Mr. A Bloggs (who isn't me, but the person who lived here before)

Me "That's not me, is the person who lived here before who I have no details for"

Them "ok, and the phone number is different so not sure why we rang you, I'll make a note so it doesn't happen again"

Not sure how they got my number though, I brought my number with me from a previous adress, so Mr Bloggs before me wouldn't have used this number when he was buying things he couldn't afford

If you have given the current number out to anyone linked to their … If you have given the current number out to anyone linked to their companies who buy/sell info that's how.

But not linked to previous owners name surely?

Ok, makes sense

If they ring again I'll report them to someone. Is it likely to cause me problems if the previous guy is in debt?
