Budget phone for teens

I'm after a budget sim only phone for my teen girls. They use their phones for social media mainly and streaming but have no idea what phone to go for, looking to spend £100-200 per handset. Any suggestions would be great

Old Moto Gs will be more than adequate. The better the phone, the more time they spend on it.

Beware that they both CAN and WILL be abusive/abused and bullies/bullied without the little darlings having any clue as too how vile they are being. This isn't the playground chat that we all grew up with. This is 24x7 inside their heads and really nasty. There are some very dubious social media apps out there devoted to encouraging immature teens to express their innermost thoughts. A lot of that is very questionable and needs guidance and oversight.if you are to help them grow up to be decent people.

We worked with friends and Godparents to bring about indirect parental support. Kids and parents seldom do well. A God parent or good family friends parents can often perform the role of surrogate parent when it comes to social media more effectively and we reckon it is to be encouraged as a safety valve/warning system.
Thanks ccnp but my girls have had their own mobile phone for a couple of years now and are regularly checked by myself with both phone accounts backed up my own account so I can see all their social media accounts whenever I wish. I just need some help with buying new handsets are they're both currently using the Vodafone Ultra 7 but complain as the choice of cases is minimal and the handset can sometimes be a little slow.

i think you have made rather an unfair assumption about the op's kids, all he/ she was after was advise on what phone and you have character assasinated them and painted every teen with the same brush.

How about older generations of some of the bigger name flagship models, like the s7, s8, lg g5, g6 or apple whatever for example, cases are easily found for just a few quid, and some are still better spec than modern day budget phones

Yeah loads on ebay and aliexpress, won't go far wrong with xiaomi, you'll need to import though or use a uk/eu based reseller. Although Three are launching them in the UK this year officially.

The Redmi 5 plus global is a good choice and will probably out perform anything close price wise. If you want to spend a bit more at around £150 the Note 5 Global (also xiaomi) is quite a bit better for not a huge amount extra, as far as I know it's more popular as well so should have even more accessories, it has better camera which I'm sure teenagers will be glad of and performs about 50% faster and is more likely to be supported update wise.

Xiaomi MI A1 64GB is an excellent phone for the money it’s as fast as my old OnePlus 3 it looks as good as any phone that costs £500 and above, it gets updated security patches monthly plus you will get change from £200 what’s not to like.

Haha old people "kids spend too much time on the interwebs back in my day we would play on the street's and fight in the World War and Vietnam"

Getting them a cheap old phone won't do any good, its a waste of money

For a lot of things now you need a phone and WiFi, accept that because they have a phone doesn't mean they won't socialise
Many businesses and products are becoming online only, Blockbuster replaced by Netflix, ToysRus/Many other stores replaced by Amazon, Letters/Fax replaced by Emails, etc
