Building A Gaming PC For Under £400?

Just after some advice on what parts I can get to get a PC that will play PC games at pretty good quality for under £400 really. I'm just after the base unit and would need CPU, motherboard, RAM, Gfx card, soundcard and a tower. I'll be carrying my DVD-RW over from my existing PC.

Any idea? Links? Thanks for your help

I'd looked through that one but it was too much as it didn't include a tower nor the decent graphics, taking it way over the £400

All below for £451.65 delivered. Split your order up and go via google checkout and get a fer few £10's back making it below £400...

Do you really need sound card as mother board has 8 channel built in?

Suppose if the on-board sound was smart enough it'd be cool I've got two IDE drives so I could use those if need be, though SATA would be nice but due to budget I could get a new HDD next month or something

Yeah, thats quite good if its brand new but would still probably prefer the above

One thing you'll not get a great deal of performance out of a 7600 GS...if you want gaming then I'd suggest a higher spec card...the 7600GT at least.

What's the difference between the GS and GT?

reduce by a tenner by paying with google checkout.

I saw a well specced BigPockets PC on the main deals page a few days back for £300 - add a gfx card and bobs your auntie. Cant find it now though - think it had 1GB RAM as well - another £30 for another gig or so wouldnt hurt.

Here is my entry (aireys spec is very good though).
As before prices are based on ordering everything seperately through google checkout, which is now free delivery over £89.

    Core 2 Duo E4400 (£82.79)

    Motherboard (£61.21)

    250gb Hard Drive (£38.20)
    ebuyer.com/UK/…433

    Choice of Cases with PSU:
    ebuyer.com/UK/…764 (£32.50)ebuyer.com/UK/…290 (£30.49)ebuyer.com/UK/…295 (£29.48)

Total comes to £261.50 delivered and if you throw in an Arctic Freezer Pro to overclock to 3GHz (£16 ish) and any Graphics Card of your your choice you will have a pretty kick ass rig:thumbsup:

just remember to add in the cost of Windows as the Big Pockets PCs have no software.

However, we don't allow eBay links in the forums, so that's been removed.
