Bulgarian Lev

Found 22nd Dec 2017
Hi. Does anyone know if it's better to obtain Bulgarian Lev before travelling or whilst there? On Moneysavingexpert travelmoney page the best deal for delivery is currently 1072 lev for £500, an exchange rate of 2.166. Thanks for your help. Simon.

get yourself revolut card
It's about 2.20 to the £ on revolut too
When I was there Revolut would only work in ATM's not restaurants or shops, so make sure you have money before you order anything. Plenty of exchange places about but only use the official places. Rates are better on revolut but only the 1st £200 is free.
We just take cash and use the Crown exchange over there.
I used my Halifax Clarity in the normal cash machines there, I got the MasterCard rate which got me about 10-15% more than friends got from exchanges both here and abroad. At the time they were getting about 2.2 and I was getting about 2.55.

I got mine before going.

Revolut does not have Lev in its list of currencies, so you would be reliant on the Cash machines exchange rate.

It's so cheap there that you won't need much. I only spent half the money I took with me and I lived like a king.
